Lips scarred by coldsores

Woeisme99 · 24/12/2019 15:50

I've suffered cold sores for about 30 years now, they have at times been pretty awful. As a result my lips are scarred, not with traditional scars but more like a complete lack of definition (not sure if the pic shows this really).
Has anyone had the same and found any miracle cures / got any advice?
Thanks in advance.

You pic didnt load I'm afraid. But I can recommend tea tree based toner and moisturiser. I used to scratch and pick at my face a lot when a bit younger and so had some awful acne scarring. I was recommended tea tree based cosmetics and I cannot believe the difference it's made on the scarring. I'd never actually used toner before either but I now use every time I get out the shower and my skins a lot smoother and clearer. I've not had lip sores though so it may not be the same effect but I've had scarring around my mouth which has cleared up

Cross post - can see your pic now!

Oh that's interesting, thanks Thoroughly. Are we just talking about the inexpensive tea tree type stuff in Superdrug or something more specific?

I use the Bodyshop tea tree range, I did start with all sorts of posh expensive ones but after months of testing out I actually found the Bodyshop ones are the best for me. They also dont break the bank and last a good amount of time!

I just realised I sound like a BS salesperson - I am not haha

Haha thoroughly, you'd probably be waiting a long time for such a specific thread to do a sales pitch on, so I definitely believe you Grin

Yeah that'd be stealth marketing at its finest - good luck with it all!
FWIW looking at your pic as a stranger I would never have even noticed or thought about your lips' definition, you look beautiful 😊

Thank you so much, what a lovely thing to say! Smile

Hi OP, your GP can prescribe Aciclovir. Start taking it as soon as you feel a cold sore starting and it will stop it coming up.

I’ve got a similar issue and started using this last month: deciem.com/product/lip-bio-lipid-concentrate-15ml

It’s helping with plumping and defining my lips overall and fading some quite red scarring I had. I’m really pleased with it

Have you thought about getting lip liner tattooed on? It can be really subtle and would potentially give you definition
