Josef Seibel or Rieker boots opinions please?

Long time lurker, don't usually post. Just asking if anyone has either of these boots so that I can make my mind up. I realise the style isn't to everyone's taste but I like to wear hiking style boots with jeans or leggings. I know the Rieker ones are cheaper and are not real leather, but does anyone know which might be the chunkier of the two? Hard to tell and I want to buy them online. Thanks Smile

I have the Josef Seibel ones...those exact ones... and I bloody LOVE them. In fact I'm on my second pair as I actually wore them out because I had nothing else on my feet for 2 years :D

They are SO comfortable. I'm usually a 7 and buy JS boots in a 40 rather than 41, so the first day or so they are a bit snug, but then they seem to mold around my feet, and they have just enough support in the foot bed to make them bliss.

The Reiker ones are not as good... I tried them on for comparison.

I rarely wear anything except JS these days..I have 3 pairs of their boots and they are all hard wearing, look good and SO comfy!

Thank you StillMedusa...I prefer the Josef Seibel ones, think they look superior and am now gonna buy them online right now!

I've a couple of pairs of Josef Seibel ankle boots. They are hard wearing and very comfortable. I haven't tried Riekers, so have no opinion on them.

I know nothing about either brand, but those Josef seibel ones are lovely. I want some ...,

I have admired that style of JS boot for years! If you have got them, how robust is the sole? I have other German light boots and in cold days my feet are freezing

I also years ago took a change on Reiker slightly heeled ankle boots. I’m still wearing them and they have lasted me for years!

Thanks StillMedusa and everyone else who replied. The red (hibiscus) Josef Seibel boots arrived today. I purchased size 7/40 which is my regular shoe size...was worried at first as they were very snug but having worn them round the house for a few hours they do seem comfortable. The fur lining and thicker insole makes them tight I think and with hindsight maybe I should have gone for size 7.5. I would not recommend them for a wider foot. They're beautiful boots and I'll be wearing them to work tomorrow.

I’m going to check out the other styles - those boots look lush!
Glad you like the boots, OP, and thanks for reporting back.

The boots look great. Are Riekers not real leather? I had one pair summer shoes look awful once after getting wet? Does that explain why!

This is the 5th thread in a row on s&b about Rieker footwear. Is someone indulging in a spot of advertising??

Wafty · 30/09/2022 01:21

ZaZathecat - I posted this thread ages ago before I name changed.
No, I'm not advertising Rieker footwear! I kept the Josef Seibel boots and didn't bother with the Rieker ones as they were vastly inferior, in my opinion. Not real leather and not as substantial to wear as the Josef Seibel ones.

ZaZathecat · 01/10/2022 00:58

Sorry Wafty, yours was the 5th in a row, actually the others looked dodgy so I should have posted on one of them!
