Do perfumes get discounted after Christmas?

I have never spent money on perfume for myself, my mum used to buy it for me duty free years ago, and I have not had any for a while. My dad suggested I choose myself some perfume for Christmas and he would treat me to it. I have spent a very pleasant time in Debenhams and decided I rather like Coco Mademoiselle, but am slightly horrified at the price...i had no idea how much my mum used to pay for perfume for me. My question for those of you who do usually buy perfume is, does it get discounted after Christmas? I'm quite happy to wait to buy it so my Dad gets better value for money, but I have no idea if it is likely to go on sale.

Thanks for any advice. Xmas Smile

Boots usually have half price on the perfume gift sets from boxing day. Not sure about individual bottles though.

Chanel perfumes are rarely discounted. Most of the time you'll find Chanel is excluded from % off codes. I did however see it was in the Boots 15% off recently and I think when The Fragrance Shop have their 20% flash sales it gets included. 20% off is what you'd get at duty free.

Thanks both of you. Very helpful. :)

There is sometimes 20% off Chanel at Debenhams and John Lewis (who will price match)

In the meantime you could buy the Lidl version 'Suddenly Madame Glamour' which is a good dupe!

Gift sets - yes, absolutely! But standard bottles of perfume will not be discounted, especially not Chanel fragrances!

However there might be a token 10% off flying around after Boxing Day. I would recommend waiting until Boxing Day because certain retailers might have promotions on (feel unique, look fantastic eg), even if it’s not discounted, they may offer some decent gift with purchases.

Thanks to both of you too! Will suggest to Dad to wait until after Christmas just in case, and will investigate Lidl.

I second the Lidl rip off, it is very very similar and I can spray it around without it costing me £10 a squirt Wink

I adore Chanel Gabrielle more though...can not justify the price. I bought a tester once and it smells absolutely delicious but it wore off me within 2hours. Not good enough for that price!

Some of the Miller Harris scents are reduced on their website now.

MabelMoo23 · 23/12/2019 19:36

No, the big brands (such as Chanel) rarely discount - they simply don't need to. You need a store discount such as John Lewis / Selfridges 10% Black Friday discount

It's always worth signing up to escentual.com. They are a reputable site and often have 20% off promotions across the whole site. They sell many top brands.

Thanks again all. I'll definitely treat myself to the dupe for everyday, and Dad can buy the real thing for nights out! Will take a look at the website too, thanks.

I've just had an email from www.escentual.com. 20% off with the code escentual20. They sell Mason Pearson brushes too for anyone who wants one at a better price.

Thanks everyone, especially those who suggested the Lidl dupe - I have just made it to Lidl and bought the dupe, it is really lovely, and I honestly will feel much better squirting £4 a bottle scent rather than the real thing!
