I would like to have my nails done for the holidays. I'm not allowed to wear nail polish for work but I have 2 weeks off. What's my best option? I've had gel before but I don't really want to pay to have it removed in 2 weeks time. Should I just get a regular manicure? I want to look nice for a change!

Take the gel off yourself. Just need to buy some acetone from pharmacy, costs like £2 or less, file off the top of the gels, soak 10 peices of cotton wool and wrap round each of your fingers with tin foil. Then after soaking use a cuticle stick to peel away gels. Rub some oil into your nails after

I am the same, if I need it to last then I'll take my own polish. As it chips/gets tatty you can fill in or add another coat, to make it last a bit longer.

As hopefull says, you can get gel off by yourself. If you paint them yourself, get a bottle of Fast Forward top coat by China Glaze, it's brilliant for prolonging the life of your polish.

Get gels in natural or french manicure style, and then paint them yourself. You can easily paint gel nails at home; they never chip the way normal nails do, and you can remove and re-apply polish at will. So enjoy as many colours as you like during your break and then just remove the polish to reveal your sensible gel manicure when it's time to go back to work.

Thank you for the advice everyone. I had no idea I could remove the gel myself at home so I think I will do that. I saw the very bizarre response before it was deleted Xmas Confused
