What to pair with a long cream skirt?

I bought this skirt months ago on a whim and whilst I really like it I have no clue what to wear it with. I'm thinking maybe a turtle neck ribbed jumper (in black or white possibly), however I'm struggling on the footwear. It's around ankle length on me as I'm around 5'4 and 7.8 stone so don't think I could wear it with boots? I reckon it could look nice with some strappy heels but they're so impractical Grin

Could anyone help me dress it down a bit, preferably with tights for a Christmas meal later, TIASmile

I actually think clompy boots are exactly what it needs (in a slightly 90s grunge way). Some biker boots plus a dark top (turtleneck sounds ideal, or a close-fitting jumper) would look nice.

Personally I'd wear high suede boots, in either black or grey, knee high, and matching colour top.

Greenglassteacup · 18/12/2019 09:14

I’d wear it with a fine knit fitted jumper and some dr martens

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 18/12/2019 09:16

Can you turn it up slightly to show your ankles?

Thank you for your suggestions, I have some biker boots in burgundy, it's seeming like an awkward colour to match :(

Not sure I'm brave enough to wear high knee boots with it either, will go try. Thanks again.

That's a good idea @TooExtraImmatureCheddar , don't know how I didn't think of that Grinthank you.

Grey fine knit turtle neck sweater, and some white trainers (like Stan smiths)?

covetingthepreciousthings · 18/12/2019 09:32

Or a slouchy cashmere.

Miseryisabutterfly · 18/12/2019 20:17

I’d go for a cream jumper and taupe boots

That's a very pretty short. It's the colour "champagne"?

I agree with the pp who mentioned the white trainers. That would keep it contemporary and more wearable as it wouldn't have to be kept for best.

For the top I'd also 2nd the pp who said to go fit a fine knit slightly slouchy top. Something that's loose and moves easily, like the skirt fabric, but obviously not shiny.
