Hi

So I got my hair done today and I’m pretty upset to say the least as I have just paid £226 and I hate it!

I asked for a darker caramelly high up balayage.. and I have ended up with a strip of dark root and very white blonde baylage bits weaved amongst dark brown. I had Faded baylage when I went in that was quite a coppery blondish.

I didn’t say anything at the time but I called the salon when I got home and they are correcting it on Saturday for free

She said to me the blonde took way more than she expected which is why it is so light.. this is really not what I asked for at all I wanted a caramelly blonde/ browny look not a white bleached look with a dark brown root

When my hair is up the root looks awful! Literally just a strip of root down the middle of my head.

They said they are going to bring the root down and tone the blonde but I feel this is just going to make it look an ashy colour which I really don’t want.

So my question to any hairdressers is it even possible to achieve the look I wanted without having to re do my hair completely ?

It’s my 30th bday this weekend and I have several plans and now I feel like my hair just looked awful !!

The roots can be pulled down by applying a brown dye from root and blending down. The blonde can be toned. You need to be clear you want a warm toner- honey or caramel. You'll only end up with an ash blonde if a cool toner -purple or grey is used.

It's fixable but so disappointing for you. Try to really clear on the colour and style you want. I get it, it's hard to be really assertive when you're sat in the chair. I've told hairdressers many times I like it, tipped them and gone home and cried!

@SmileyClare thanks for the reply I feel a bit better now knowing it can be sorted I will defo be asking for a warmer toner as i don’t want an ash blonde !

I have uploaded a pic of my roots tbh it looks better in the pics as the lighting in my flat isn’t great and it makes the blonde look a lot warmer than it actually is but as you can see from the roots I llterally have just a strip or dark root.

I think the colour looks good in the pics Smile agree the roots either need to be pulled down and blended for a better ombre or touched up with bleach to the root. It's not awful though!

@SmileyClare I think it’s the roots that’s making it look worse Cos I just have no idea what she was thinking !! I wear my hair up a lot and with it up the roots do look absolutely terrible. The problem is it’s nothing like what I asked for .. the lighting like I said is also making the colour look way nicer than it does in the day light lol

Pic attached or what I actually wanted

You say in your op that you wanted a high up balayage but that photo shows the highlights starting around ear level - not high up. I’d say the colour in the photo is almost chestnut - yours is def much blonder

Lucy2999 · 17/12/2019 23:00

@Veterinari yes I agree mine is a lot higher up than the pic I showed to her.. but I didn’t mind high up it’s the fact the colour is totally different.. and yeah mine is way more blonder it doesn’t even show how blonde it truely is in them pictures

It sounds like quite a good salon; they're prepared to rectify it and the blonde highlights look professionally applied. She just seemed to misinterpret what you said about taking the balyage higher.
it's poor that the bleach was left too long. It's possible that when she checked it during developing it was looking too ginger and she went blonder to avoid that? That can happen when bleaching from dark brown.

Maybe update with a pic? Love a before and after! Hopefully you won't be going for the big lips to match the pic..Hers look ready to explode Grin
