How to avoid helmet hair?

Any tips for avoiding helmet hair? I cycle to work and my hair always looks dreadful when I get there - the helmet puts in a kink so that my hair points out rather than curls in, IYSWIM. It’s not a long cycle and my hair is slightly longer than chin length.

I could get a pair of straighteners to keep at work but don’t have easy access to a mirror and plug. Any advice, o wise ones?

Can you still buy those gas cartridge tong things? They were like a heated brush they got really hot and smoothed your hair or curled it if you wished.

Do you really need a mirror? I've found when I'm desperate I can even put mascara on without a mirror. You could practise at home not using one maybe

I’d forgotten about those gas powered brushes!

Maybe mirror free practising is the way forward. I get a bit of reflection of the computer monitor which would do in a pinch...
