What shoes with this lovely dress?

I bought this dress yesterday. It's lovely, very 1950's (or 60's?) With a slim waist and full skirts (with pockets!)

Anyway, it would probably be best with court shoe type things but I usually wear (and am more comfortable with) ankle boots. I have several pairs if neat chelsea-type boots and a pair of heeled sock boots in black. Would they be too heavy?

I am tall-ish so the dress falls just below my knee.

Oh Yes and I need it to be casual. I don't have the kind of lifestyle that fits with heels in daytime. Hence the ankle boots and tights with dresses usually.

I have a similar dress in navy which i wear with black opaques (40 denier as opposed to totally opaque) and black ankle boots. But I think nude tights would be better with yours as so much black might be a bit OTT. Would stick with ankle boots though although courts would look great too.

Oh and i think the sock boots would be great too.

Thanks StCharlotte, it's actually dark denim rather than black.

I can't wait to give it it's first twirl!

Ah! The black tights will be fine then. Enjoy your twirling Smile

I would not wear with ankle boots. I think pointy flats or a kitten heel would be way better.

I have this dress (love it) and wear it with black tights and ankle boots.
