Cashmere for men

Where’s good for cashmere for men?

I’m (And DH!) usually happy with Landsend for quality/value but I’ve left it too late for the size/colour combo I want. Had a look at Boden but they’re twice the price and some of the reviews suggest not twice the quality. Don’t mind paying in principle, but not if the price is just inflated to justify 40% reduction to the ££ the item’s actually worth....

I prefer marks and spencer men's cashmere to the women's, in my ecperience softer and more durable. I'm wearing an extra large m and s men's cashmere polo neck as a jumper dress over leggings today.

TM Lewin I think I bought some a few yrs ago. Very nice.

DH has some from uniqlo and J Crew (bought in the sale) that seems like its decent quality. This year I’m getting him recycled cashmere from Patagonia.

AuntSpiker · 14/12/2019 14:55

You're not in the Midlands are you? John Smedley has a fantastic factory shop in Derbyshire, their cashmere is as good as you can buy and the prices are amazingly cheap for a premium brand.

Sadly not in the Midlands :-(
I’m kicking myself for leaving it late... M&S don’t do either of the colours I’d buy, Lewin’s don’t do cashmere anymore it seems and Patagonia’s a good shout but it has a hood which DH won’t wear. Argh. Keeping fingers crossed for Uniqlo.

That’s a shame Patagonia don’t have anything. My DH wouldn’t wear the hoody either, although I was quite tempted for myself! I got him a crew neck but I’m in the US and got it from our neighbourhood store so I’m guessing we might get a bigger range than the U.K. Fingers crossed for uniqlo! You could also try Pure collection- fairly reasonable prices and I can’t comment on the men’s but I have a cardigan from there that’s years old and still going strong.

John Lewis is good quality, similar price to M&S but the cut / shape is a bit better in my experience.

AMillionMugsNoTeabags · 14/12/2019 17:52

John Lewis! Of course... why did I not think of them - they have exactly what I want. Thank you Smile

Are you anywhere near the Scottish Borders? There are some amazing factory outlet shops with real bargains on top notch brands.

BarbedWiry · 14/12/2019 22:37

@BloomedAgain how long is the men's jumper on you? I'm 5ft4 and a size 8 and considering buying one after reading your post!

BloomedAgain · 15/12/2019 15:43

I'm not sure what year it's from but it's well over my bottom. It makes leather leggings more decent for conservative relatives. I think it's best to try them on or look at the measurements online?
