Long lasting foundation that isn't Doublewear

1984isnow · 13/12/2019 19:19

I have tried a few different foundations in the past but always went back to Doublewear. Even though I don't love it, it atleast stays on my face most of the day. It sinks into my lines and pores, looks dry and my skin generally feels a bit shit after wearing it.

I've been using Too Faced Born This Way for the past few weeks, and I really like the finish and how my skin feels (it's a lot softer than when I was using DW) but it just slides off during the day. My tzone looks especially blotchy by lunch, and I'm not particularly oily.

I have tried DW light but I didn't like it either.

Any recommendations? Preferably not a completely matte finish or a powder one. I'm not overly fussed about level of coverage, as long as it sticks to my skin like glue.

Following!

Urban decay all nighter foundation. It is supposedly a matte finish but it is more of a satin finish on me. I have dry skin and it’s perfectly fine.

It’s good to prime the skin before foundation - that usually helps with the longevity too.

Have you ever tried setting your tzone with powder after foundation? Or maybe even a setting spray. The urban decay all nighter setting spray is amazing!

I have tried setting sprays and powders but they don't seem to make much difference with Too Faced.

One of the Urban Decays I read oxidizes. I can't remember which particular one, so I've just stayed away. They've got a counter near me so I'll nip and see if they do a sample, as I keep wasting my money🙄

My tzone isn't actually oily, just for some reason Too Faced seems to bring every drop to the surface.

The Primark doublewear dupe is vey good. Longwear ultimate matte. And it’s only a fiver if you don’t get on with it.

Higher end, Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear is very good. Make sure you’re using a good primer under it to stop the pores clogging though. Smashbox or No7 are my favourites.

healthylifestylee · 14/12/2019 08:54

I use a primer from the drug store and then Nabla foundation

You can't get it in store that I know of. DP found it online and surprised me with an order and guessed my shade just right
I'm pale and have struggled to find a the perfect t shade for years

healthylifestylee · 14/12/2019 08:56

I then always use a powder on top - lasts from when I put it on at 7:30 to 6 when I take it off
Obviously it doesn't look as good, but it's still there and presentable and I don't touch up at all during the day

Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation. I use Ambient Lighting on top. Magic. I wouldn't use anything else now.

JoanBonJovi · 14/12/2019 09:12

Mac.

jinglebelldogs · 14/12/2019 09:13

I also use their oil primer. Sounds weird because it's an oil but it sets so nicely.

JoanBonJovi · 14/12/2019 09:13

I did a spin class in the Mac long lasting one. Stayed on

fishonabicycle · 14/12/2019 09:30

Hydraluminous

AngusThermopyle · 14/12/2019 09:48

You could try 'cover fx dewy skin primer' under the double wear. It helps give it a more glowy look rather than dry/matt. Still lasts all day.

Wineislifex · 14/12/2019 09:51

Nars all day radiant but then I also use banana powder to set it and then finish with Mac fix spray but it lasts all day

1984isnow · 14/12/2019 10:07

Ooo lots to try, I think I'm just going to delete my banking app so I can't check my balance..

I think first stop will be Urban Decay and Mac, as they have counters here and I'm awful at shade matching. And then I'll work my way down this list.

I am hoping to find one that doesn't need many 'complementary' products to make it work, so I can reduce the size of my make up pile, and time spent in the morning

Thanks all

Try these sites for matching op. Mecca has never let me down, the online tool has matched me better than the make up artists in store on occasion.

Ah that didn't work well

100% would recommend urban decay all nighter. It takes around a minute or so for it to set to the chosen shade on your skin, this is why it may look different when you apply it straight away. I use the L'Oréal fit me powder on top of this for a air brush finish! X

Bexy1393 · 14/12/2019 10:29

Maybeline super stay 24 hour! Amazing! Better than double wear and a 3rd of the price x

RiskIt4Biscuit · 14/12/2019 10:49

L’Oreal infallible 24h fresh wear is good.
Milani conceal and perfect foundation is also really nice. I think this is my new favourite - doublewear has been my go-to for ages.

I don’t use primer under foundation, but I do think it makes a massive difference which moisturiser I use.

BanjoStarz · 14/12/2019 15:06

I use MAC studio fix with essence setting spray - but I find the biggest thing that’s makes a difference is prepping my skin first.

If I moisturise and prime my foundation sits lovely and lasts all day.

If I don’t moisturise and prime my skin just seems to soak up all the oils in the foundation and it separates and turns blotchy - any foundation I use does this. (And I have oily skin so it’s not dehydrated or anything)

So, I’d look at changing the prep for your skin if you’ve found a foundation you like but it isn’t lasting.

ThinkPink71 · 14/12/2019 16:07

Ive heard ALOT of people recommend HUDA Faux Filter Foundation.

Honeybee85 · 14/12/2019 16:12

I personally love L’Oreal true match but if you want one that survives a nuclear war then try Shiseido Synchro Skin Selfrefreshing Foundation.

I have greasy skin and when I’m traveling or otherwise too busy to do touch ups, this is my holy grail. It literally stays on all day.

Bluntness100 · 14/12/2019 16:18

Chanel le teint ultra tenue. Makes my skin look all dewy and flawless, is really light going on and I swear to god, if I sleep in it it's still pretty much ok the next day,

MsChatterbox · 14/12/2019 17:13

If you want something more affordable, I really like CYO life proof foundation. Whatever foundation I always use rimmel London stay matte powder. I used this with double wear too. It's great. I apply the foundation with a wet real techniques sponge it looks flawless.
