Help me style this Hush dress

Bought this Hush dress today. It doesn't look much on the hanger but looks good on!

I tried it with black leather leggings but they looked too shiny with it (also don't think I can quite pull off leather leggings tbh). I've been browsing and I think I want coated leggings as they seem to have a bit of sheen. Like these, maybe? Yay or nay?

Also, shop stylist suggested ankle boots... I presume she meant the stylish kind for going out, with a small heel, and not my flat clompy ones from Clarks Grin Do I really need to buy new ankle boots or could I get away with flats?

Jewellery - should I go silver or add some colour?

Ill be wearing mine with Plain black leggings or tights, black ankle boots with small heel, or longer suede flat slouch boots. Am wondering if I can get away with trainers, actually. If I was slightly vainer I'd wear suede high shoe boots , but can't abide the thought of wearing heels these days, although they look good.

I think the length is dress length rather than long top length,so unless you're a lot taller than me, I'm not sure it would work with trousers ( as opposed to leggings). I did try with dark animal print leggings but didn't like that effect.
I'd be interested to see photos of what you're thinking of putting it with.

In one of the photos on the Hush site they've actually styled it with leather leggings (their own of course which are £345! Hahaha no)

I have this dress which is very similar in shape. I wear it with very opaque tights and trainers/DM boots/ankle boots like these: www.oasis-stores.com/gb/sale/accessories/western-heeled-boots/070367.html?cgid=sale-accessories&gclid=CjwKCAiA58fvBRAzEiwAQW-hzfTU7GN90jMlpXcnbfng_ogSDJOVYq_w_gs1TjDGjdJZ2-uyFzYsrBoCBbYQAvD_BwE&position=132&dwvar_070367_color=01 (the dip at the front being a key feature to slim my ankles)
And either big earrings or necklace!
Not sure I’d wear mine with leggings but I can’t explain why I think that.

I will try it with tights later. But I'm reasonably tall and don't like short dresses. I know leggings aren't popular in S&B and they get sneered at for being frumpy mum uniform but I will probably feel more comfortable in leggings. Just want to get some nice ones. The leather ones didn't look too bad to be fair, it's just me being a perfectionist about getting the look right!

Update: the dress didn't look too bad with tights but I am wearing it with these leggings - they are "black coated" and look like leather, with a subtle sheen. They are quite flattering and look more stylish than the tights I think.

The leather leggings I tried on yesterday were too shiny I think but I was along the right lines.

Also tried with flats and heels, definitely better with heels. I'm just wearing classic black heels but I think it would be perfect with smart black ankle boots with a small heel. Might buy some for future wear! Post Christmas sales maybe...

I would wear either with leather look leggings and either black ankle boots or a black heel or with black opaques and my black suede knee high boots. I nearly bought this last year (they did a gold version).

Ellapaella · 14/12/2019 07:58

When I say leggings I mean the skinny ones like yours OP, I don't like it styledwith those loose ones on the Hush website.

sultanaloaf · 14/12/2019 08:19

How about these? Not sure if suede is quite right but they look a great shape.

White stuff by the way!

AnotherEmma · 14/12/2019 09:49

Thanks sultana! Nice but not my style though.

YY you're right the leggings have to be skinny or they look like trousers which doesn't work.
And I agree I think leggings + ankle boots or tights + knee boots. The latter is probably better if you have slim thighs (I don't!)

I want ankle boots like these or these. Neither available in my size though, boo.
