Squeezed into leather jacket...will it stretch?!

I took advantage of the All Saints sale and picked up this jacket

I knew it'd be tight as I'm a 16 and they only go to a 14 (which I think is utterly crap) but I ordered it anyway.

Good thing is it fits well in the shoulders but it's quite tight at the top of the arms (bingo wings) and although I can get it done up it completely squishes my boobs and I look like I'm wearing a straight jacket! I'm not ever actually going to wear it done up and I absolutely LOVE the style, the super soft leather and I really want to keep it. So am sat here with a baggy jumper on and have it zipped up over the top in the hope it'll stretch out.

Anyone want to tell me if it'll work or not?

Leather does stretch yes...if you gently heat the areas you want to stretch with a hair dryer, then put it on, it will stretch faster.

Great tip thanks will give that a try!

Keep it ...you will never wear it fastened up anyway. Ooh does it smell delicious ?
Enjoy

I bought one in the sale in the actual shop and assistant was very insistent that I buy the smaller size even though I felt more comfortable in the next one up.

She was adamant it would stretch and I'd regret bu

Buying bigger so I'd say you're safe!

I was given one. I just wear it undone instead of zipped up Grin Leather does usually soften up doesn't it. And you'll save a fortune on heating if you keep wearing it zipped up with a jumper underneath!

BillHadersNewWife · 13/12/2019 01:30

OP says the arms are the bit that's tight...OP regularly heat and wear it. It will defo loosen. There are other methods but they're a bit risky and involve soaking the leather in rubbing alcohol and water. The heat method is good.

Thanks all I love it so much I'm definitely keeping it, it does smell and feel amazing!

It's definitely loosened up a bit already from a bit of wear with the jumper and I did put the hairdryer on it yesterday. I stuffed some towels into the sleeves last night too Grin

It will stretch. I regret buying one in usual size rather than size below now.

Try the spray that you put on
leather shoes when you want to stretch them as it softens the leather and makes it more liable to stretch

Mojitomogul · 22/12/2019 19:54

You can get leather stretcher cream from Clark's,dont think it's too expensive so maybe try that! Xx

FallenAngel01 · 23/12/2019 01:25

I have no idea, why you feel the need to squeeze into something that doesn't fit? Leather will only stretch so far - think - the size of the cow that originally wore it? That wasn't meant to be bitchy xx sorry xx (I just read that back)
Please, wear the size of clothes that fit you xx
