Didriksons coats

I'm looking for a warm, waterproof coat and have come across some nice ones by Didriksons.

Does anyone have any experiences of this brand? Are they worth the money?

What is the sizing like?

Thanks!

I got a nearly new one second hand v v warm and washes well. See if you can pick one up on eBay I got mine from a local seller for £15 I think

user1494050295 · 12/12/2019 09:48

It was for my daughter who was 8 at the time and the coat was a size 12.

AFistfulofDolores1 · 12/12/2019 10:03

I have one - a 1913. I absolutely LOVE it!

championquartz · 12/12/2019 10:21

I have one. I hate it in that I don't like the style (it gets compliments tho) but it is absolutely fantastic on even the most hideous of winter days. The best combination of warm and waterproof that I've ever tried. Mine is a few years old and I can't remember its style name but I cannot tell you how fantastic it is in the cold wind and rain. It's quite incredible.

eurochick · 12/12/2019 10:25

I have one. It's great.

HoHoHolyCow · 12/12/2019 14:47

Thanks everyone.

I'm usually an 8-10, is it worth going for the bigger or smaller size?

I'm assuming bigger, if an 8 yr old was wearing the size 12!

So so warm. I've just been looking for another one. I got the Angelina a couple of years ago but it never washed well (navy) and really is dog walking only now. But I will pay £200 for a new one, as they'll last. Going to try black this time.

PartyintheKitchen · 12/12/2019 14:51

I got one a few months ago and can honestly say it has been my best buy this yr. Keeps me bone dry in hideous rain and warm enough on cold cold days. I'm a 10 and the 36 fits me perfectly.

DeathByPuppy · 12/12/2019 14:53

Yes size up by one size but I don’t think the 8 year old (?) in a women’s size 12 is representative, if that’s what that poster meant.

Itsabeautifuldaytosavelives123 · 12/12/2019 14:53

They are now true to size as well usually when sold, 38=12. It won't take a lot of layers if you're a 12, but is too large to be a ten. 38 is really a 10 but this has been adapted for everywhere I've seen it sold while I've been looking

HoHoHolyCow · 12/12/2019 15:19

Thanks, Im going to go for it!!

Another vote for the warmly padded waterproof wonders. Mine kept me warm and dry today despite horizontal deluge. Not the most elegant but so practical.

trumpisaflump · 13/12/2019 14:39

These are the best coats ever. So warm and cosy. I have 4!

TileFloors · 13/12/2019 18:10

Agree they’re the best ever. I have the Vilda parka from Blacks. In my experience it’s true to size or slightly generous. When I lost a lot of weight this year I rebought it two sizes smaller as I couldn’t imagine a winter without it.

wickedfairy · 13/12/2019 21:54

I have the Angelina and it is great - so warm and totally waterproof. Mine is a green/khaki colour, which has faded somewhat, but it really is the warmest coat ever. Definitely worth the money.

borntobequiet · 14/12/2019 09:01

Mine was from TKMaxx £39.99 and the best buy I made recently. Warm, waterproof, great shape and length. Would pay full price next time if necessary, but it will last years.

borntobequiet · 14/12/2019 09:03

Oh and mine is a 14, I’m a 12/14 and it fits well with fewer or more layers depending on weather. V slimming shape on me.

Schindy · 14/12/2019 12:11

I have the Celine and it's so cosy and warm. I'm a size 12/14 and got a size 40, but I can wear a few layers under too. I only need the layers if I'm going to be standing still or sitting at the football. If I'm not wearing layers, I adjust the waist and hem to make it more fitted and give a bit more shape. This is the second one I've had, the first one was a cotton/polyester mix and it faded quickly. The Celine is polyester and still looks as good as when I first bought it. They are definitely worth the money in my opinion.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 14/12/2019 12:14

I have one too, I'm a 10/12 and have a 38. I wore mine in Finnish lapland in February and it was great.

cece · 14/12/2019 12:17

I'm size 12 with big norms and mines a 40

Itsabeautifuldaytosavelives123 · 14/12/2019 12:27

@borntobequiet what a bargain!! I'm not sure where people buy them from as I've found them quite difficult to find or have to buy from places I wouldn't have heard of but they're still quite popular.

I don't find I need layers with mine. I've just invested in a Mea, in black.

HeronLanyon · 14/12/2019 12:30

Tried one on recently and needed a size bigger than my usual coat size. Didn’t buy it in the end as the hood was so huge it just looked ludicrous whether you or down. Bought a lovely (similar) Brasher which was on remarkable Black Friday offer few weeks ago through blacks.

Mamia15 · 14/12/2019 16:12

I have one (bought a couple of seasons ago) - tip for big hoods, use the adjustments to make it smaller and more fitted.

Mine is totally waterproof but not as warm as hoped - I still need to wear layers underneath.

HoHoHolyCow · 19/12/2019 16:41

I ordered one, but am sending it back Sad

The 10 was huge on me (even with layers) and the hood was MASSIVE! Even when I pulled it in!

It was so warm though. The hunt continues...
