I wear dresses to work every day. I have no spare cash and an currently wearing shoes that are so old they have holes and hurt my feet. I have no spare cash (single mum to three DC). My aunt has offered to buy me new shoes (no real price cap) for Christmas I would love some ankle boots that will last!

Any suggestions?

I've bought boots in the past from sports direct which have been great (easy to wear in, lasted well even though I'm on my feet all day, stylish). They range between 10 and 22 quid. I've also got doc Martin's which are obviously more expensive. They really are great hard wearing boots that go with almost any outfit. Plus, have a look on tkmaxx online.

I have a pair from hotter that wear all the time. Outside and in as they're so comfy. Think they are called pixie. Not cheap but very well made

I am having the Flora boots from DM. They are in their 5th year and still look good!

Expensive but they last so long, you end up saving money.

DMs for comfort and lasting well.

Maybe carvella?

My work boots are from Air and Grace (John Lewis sale) and they look like new after two years.

I got some great ones from Sainsburys a few years ago which have lasted. But probably not as reliable as some for quality/lasting.

Scootingthebreeze · 05/12/2019 07:02

I tend to buy boots from Debenhams as always stylish and comfortable

What a very kind offer! Have a look at the shoeaholics website perhaps for some ideas? It's all Carvela, Geox etc and it has amazing discounts. I recently found some geox Chelsea boots and can't tell you how many compliments I have had. They might give you an idea of the kind of boots you're after too. Long ones? Calf length? Etc etc.

What do you think to these?

What about these? I have two pairs bought in the sale and love them.

diamantegal · 05/12/2019 23:47

I've got these and very happy with them. Might be slightly high for ankle boots though - I tend to wear them with jeans so doesn't matter so much.

Less keen on the ones you linked, but that's because I'm a midget and prefer a higher heel.

aveenos · 06/12/2019 06:06

the one you linked looks awful, OP. not sure what it is but the heel gives it a real tacky shape.

if you want something that lasts years I would go for a much more classic look.

Xiaoxiong · 06/12/2019 09:11

I don't like the way the ones you linked go up at the toe, or the fabric around the ankle which I think will look tatty quite quickly.

For that budget and if it's a present, I'd go for these in black or brown, they are simple classics and should last forever: www.russellandbromley.co.uk/chelsea/372245

Primark! I've got a tan pair of ankle boots I bought about 5 years ago for about a tenner. I keep meaning to replace them, but they're so comfy. They have similar pairs in there this year.

VioletCharlotte · 06/12/2019 09:24

Oh just read your post properly and see you said no price cap! I'd still buy the Primark ones tbh and use the rest of the cash for a decent coat as well.

nowisthetimetochange · 06/12/2019 17:33

Thanks for the feedback. The Russell and Bromley ones look different great!
