This crossbody bag - what do you think?

I’m looking for something smart and stylish that I can use for everyday but also nice enough for going out for coffee/lunch/drinks etc.
I need crossbody because shoulder bags slip off for some reason (slanty shoulders?) and I have sore wrists so clutch or handbags no good. Can I have your opinion on this one please? It’s to go with a navy pea jacket. TIA

I have something similar and it’s ridiculously practical and useful. Dress up or dress down. Goes with everything.

Blacmange · 04/12/2019 18:34

Good to know. I have certain things I always carry around like medication, umbrella, purse, tissues etc and can’t manage with something mini sized.

It’s also super safe from a pickpocket perspective

Blacmange · 04/12/2019 19:47

Didn’t think of that but that’s definitely a plus.

Ooh I like it! Have you a link?

Oblomov19 · 04/12/2019 20:47

Looks good. How much?

AuntieDolly · 04/12/2019 20:50

Will it be a faff to get into?

Blacmange · 04/12/2019 21:23

I don’t know how to do links but it’s on Debenhams website and is reduced from £70 to £28 which is pretty good with it being leather. I’ve ordered it so will report back when it arrives.

In my view it’s not smart. It’s just a dull every day bag. There are so many better ones available.

ShyteSprite · 04/12/2019 23:19

I like it. I always use crossbody bags (tiny, wonky shoulders here) and I think it looks smart - looks good quality and nice colour.

Binglebong · 04/12/2019 23:19

Thank you. Do say how you get on.

Anthilda · 04/12/2019 23:21

It's a lovely bag.

PrimeraVez · 05/12/2019 01:47

In my opinion it’s a bit frumpy. It’s functional and not remotely stylish. But maybe that’s ok!

Swiftier · 05/12/2019 06:43

It’s a bit boring, very plain and safe. I think there’s plenty of nicer bags out there.

Difficultcustomer · 05/12/2019 06:50

Those of you saying there are nicer ones could you link to one please.

Blacmange · 05/12/2019 07:23

Yes if anyone could recommend something functional but smart and more stylish that would be great.

I have a small Kipling bag which is crossover with that flap over thing. I put my purse in that and it is so light (not money!!!) I forget it is in there!!!

Buddyelf · 05/12/2019 09:18

I really like that OP, I think it’s a nice everyday bag. Might have a look myself - love a good cross body bag

Ninkanink · 05/12/2019 09:34

I actually think that one is very nice. It’ll look great with a navy peacoat (in terms of colour as well as style). Okay, so it’s not going to win any awards as a fashion statement, but it’s a good bag, practical, safe and will go with everything. Is it leather?

Ninkanink · 05/12/2019 09:35

Oh just saw it is leather. It’s a great reduction as well. At that price I’d definitely keep it.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 05/12/2019 09:39

I think for £28 it's worth getting even if you only use it casually

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/12/2019 10:18

Not commenting on the bag in the picture but the style of it with the zipped section forming the flap over -
I have two Kipling bags with this , and they are really secure .

I need to know where everything is (which is one reason Kipling works for me)
If I put my purse in the base of the zipped section, it is safe .
One of mine has a velcro fasten on the folded over bit which I'm not keen on.

dontgobaconmyheart · 05/12/2019 10:26

It's ok but not something I'd consider particularly stylish or expensive looking, even if it is leather. It also looks quite small so I'd worry about the shape once it was filled with things. Whilst I don't care about branding, I'd prefer none of it and wouldn't want a bag that says 'pure luxuries' on the front, as it cheapens it quite a bit IMO.

Blacmange · 05/12/2019 14:26

dontgobacon I agree with you re the logo.

Rewilderness · 09/12/2019 17:14

The bag arrived today and I said I’d report back. It’s a lot smaller than I expected (can’t fit my umbrella in without a tussle). The logo is a bit too prominent and the bag doesn’t look as smart as it did in pic. I think it would be a bit awkward to get into although it would be a good theft deterrent. I know it’s only £28 but I’m taking it back to Debenhams as I don’t think I’ll get much use out of it. While I’m in town I’m going to look in M&S and Zara.
