How do I look after my leather handbag?

I was given a lovely leather handbag for my birthday. I don't know how to look after it though. Do I need to use some sort of cream on it like I would (should) with leather shoes?
I have never owned anything so properly grown up and expensive before so I don't want to waste it. I've seen a few miracle products when I've searched online but I would love an actual recommendation from someone who has managed to keep their leather handbag looking nice for more than about 3 months.

Thank you

What type of leather is it ?

Stuff it with tissue paper and keep it in a dust bag when not being used. If it doesn't have any suede on I would clean with a damp cloth and occasionally use a leather conditioner. Is it for every day or occasional use?

Cadillac leather cleaner and conditioner about once or twice a year (more or less depending will vary per bag and how much you use it). Just rub in with a soft cloth (I use a microfibre one) leave to set and buff a bit after. It makes the bag look fresh out of the box every time you use it. It's used and recommended by all the big luxury houses.

Don’t eat it.

Renapur leather balsam. Comes in a box with a little sponge, not for suede or nubuck though.

I don't know what kind of leather it is. It's a pale colour and it's not shiny, I think it's meant to look sort of distressed and worn, but I don't want it to dry out and get cracked and wasted.
I do use it most days because it's so lovely.

I'll look up the creams you have recommended, thanks.
