What to wear to a December wedding in Sweden?

I will be going to a wedding in Stockholm between Christmas and New Year and I have no idea what to wear. I usually dress in a rather boring, practical style with lots of seasalt type tunics etc so I need help to look dressed up.
The dress code is "dark suit" and the wedding is in a church. I am 30, 5'8'' and usually a size 12. I still look a few months pregnant so I am self conscious about looking even more round. I have red hair. In the past I have had issues with my boobs being too big for dresses which fit the rest of my body, so I started by looking at Bravissimo's dress collection. What do you think of these? I am also open to other suggestions.

Dress2 (Is it ok to wear black?)

the dark teal velvet one is my fave: will look lovely on a redhead. the black one looks a bit 'girls night out' and the reddish one says 'office', to me.

Dress 1, definitely. With a warm coat!

SunnySomer · 03/12/2019 17:23

Yep, I say 1 too. Think carefully about warm coat and good footwear though 🙂

1 for me as well.

lobsteroll · 03/12/2019 17:28

Definitely dress 1 too - it's lovely!

Dress 1 is fab! Perfect for the time of year

Dark suit or (mörk kostym) would suggest a knee length party dress, not full length gala and not too far above the knee. So dress one would be perfect Smile

A lot if Swedish women would wear winter boots on way to and from the wedding and switch to heels at the venue. The streets of Stockholm can be rather slippery in heels! Unless you are getting a taxi if course.

Oh and be prepared for lengthy speeches at the wedding meal, anyone is allowed a speech so it can go on for a long time Wink

It’s about -1 in Stockholm during the day in December. I would be looking at wearing a wool dress. I got a beautiful plain wool dress in Hush last winter, I have looked at this years collection.

If not the teal dress would look good with your colouring, I would invest in some wool underwear, some leather boots and gloves, and a wool coat.
I’m not a hugely cold person, but I would have had trouble on a Swedish winter without either wool, or my stupidly expensive North Face jacket.
They deal with the cold by mainly staying indoors and have really good heating, but you do need to wrap up.

I'd say 1. I think you'll freeze in 2 and 3....

KristinaM · 03/12/2019 18:57

Don’t be daft, you don’t need to wear wool underwear to attend a wedding in Stockholm, it’s not the North Pole and they have good heating indoors! I’m fact probably better heating than many Uk wedding venues.

Just have a warm coat and hat and sensible footwear to wear to and from the venue. Just as you would do in London If the weather was cold.

The teal one it is. I will wear my snowboots and winter coat to get there. Thanks everyone.
