Should I dye my hair darker? With pic.

This is me au natural, with absolutely no make up and hair just washed with conditioner and left to dry on its own. As you can see, I am very pale and quite fair. This is more or less my natural hair colour, except a very ill advised experiment with some of that "go blonder" spray Xmas Hmm.

Anyway, I am trying to grow out my hair at the moment, but what about the colour? I've never had it dark before, but maybe now is the time.

I quite fancy a warm, medium brown, like this pic (the one with long hair, ie not me).

What do people think please?

I agree that the colour would look lovely but you would need to get your eyebrows darker too. Youd probably want to wear a little mascara or tint your eyelashes too.

Also, can you cope with blonde roots when it starts growing out? X

I’d go an apricot semi perm. You have amazing colouring.

loutypips · 02/12/2019 18:12

If you went dark I think you'd look washed out. Definitely agree that with your colouring a red would look fab.
Are you going to a hairdresser or diy?

DyeHairDark · 02/12/2019 18:13

I could do either, salon or DIY. I don't have a salon I am completely sure about where I live yet though...so I would need to research.

Coppery would be good. As a fellow fair skin person who is tone neutral sometimes red brings out a very rudey colouring with me and i hate it. Coppery is flatterings for more people imo.

One of my friends has very similar colouring to you, she went red and it really suited her. She had it a bright coppery red and it looked amazing but needed the roots doing every few weeks so she’s gone warm strawberry blonde which still looks great & is more low maintenance. Her colour now is similar to the pic posted by AwkwardPaws and the first pic posted by AFairlyHardAvocado (long hair wearing the grey lacey dress).

You've got spring colouring - don't go dark, you will look shit (sorry).

Agree with PPs about making your eyebrows stand out more - either tint or eyebrow pencil in a mid brown.

Blusher/lipstick in coral, salmon pink, orange red all should look good, experiement. No sludgey or muted colours. Clear bright warm colours.

(and for inspiration, Nicole Kidman has very similar colouring)

Warm spring maybe?

I really love the one in the middle at the bottom of this pic. Next to Michelle Williams.

I adore your hair colour, please don't change it.

I think your hair colour is beautiful and you don't need to draw on any eyebrows.

astralweaks · 03/12/2019 00:40

You are really lovely as you are. With make up you must be stunning.

DyeHairDark · 03/12/2019 11:56

Ah you guys! Thanks for being so complimentary. Shocks and all that.

I am definitely one of those people for whom make up makes an enormous difference, I can just rarely be arsed to put it on. It annoys my eyes a bit too. I should tint my lashes and find someone who can go easy on the eyebrows.
