Copper Hair, what lipstick?

Hello! I don’t often venture in to S&B but I’m in need of some help!

I have attached a picture of my hair. I don’t often wear makeup at all but before this colour I loved a red lipstick, on the darker side and definitely more on the purple/blue side of red. But last time I put it on with this hair colour it looked awful, really clashy.

I have quite a few events coming up over the festive period, as many do, but I don’t know where to start to find a lipstick that won’t clash with my hair.

Oh lovely ladies of S&B please help me. I don’t really want to spend more than £10. I tend to prefer bold or darker colours and I like a matte finish but I’m open to any suggestion! I’ll also take any other suggestions on a makeup colour palette!

My hair is similar but not as bright - I like brown lipsticks or plum (strangely this seems to match well)

I've tried Charlotte Tilbury and I like their sparkly pillow talk but the normal ones aren't worth the money for me, Mac are quite drying. I actually really like rimmel ones! Sorry I can't remember shade names

Your hair is stunning, just beautiful. I think there's a red for you but depends on your skin tone which shade. If you're pale a true bright red could be amazing.

Can you go to a beauty counter on a quiet day and ask them to colour match for you?

@saltoftheearthmum that’s a great idea, but I’m not sure when I’ll get the chance to go somewhere with a counter. There’s a Superdrug and a Boots in our town but I don’t think either have manned counters. I shall see if I can pop in and see at the weekend.

I used to wear mac velvet Teddy a lot, I'm completely ginger. Also deep red looks nice with copper.

Yes I agree that a lovely red would work. my hair is a natural version of your colour and I wear Nars Gypsy - it’s a gorgeous natural matt red. Why don’t you go into to Mac and have a play.

Your hair is stunning. I have an orange lipstick that would look fabulous with it. I'm away at the moment so I can't check what it's called, but I needed a cheap lipstick today and I picked up a nice brown one in poundland.

It makes perfect sense as purple makes brown 'pop' I believe.

SecondaryBurnzzz They certainly do! Almond Macaroon (which I wore during my redhead days) would have been even better but I gather they've changed the colour.

Wow is that your hair? I think you could wear almost any colour even if it clashes. I met a friend today who wore a glossy cerise pink lipstick which I think would look fab.

When I was a copper shade (and I am quite pale too) i found a nice nudey-pink tone from Revlon, but I just can’t remember to name, Sky line or something, but obviously wasn’t as dramatic as a red. There was also a really nice one from MUA in Superdrug, about a £1, it was more like a lip stain but as a lipstick, a deepish red, think black cherry it may have been called wild berry or something.

I have red hair and i wear corals, nudes and i found a great red, its Givenchy rouge Artelier, its quite sheer and semi matte

Aww thanks everyone! My hair does not always look quite like that, that was after just having it done at the hairdressers!

I’ve bought Maybelline SuperStay in Heroine which I quite like but I’m going to properly investigate all your suggestions and try and find a true red and also maybe something a little more subtle. I’ve never really gone for neutrals or pinks so I’m going to give both of those a go too I think!
