New bras when I finish breastfeeding

After spending the best part of a year in comfy but ugly and very unflattering (shape wise) nursing bras, I want to treat myself to something a bit prettier and more flattering when I stop breastfeeding (likely to be in the next month or two).

How long after I stop feeding do I need to wait for the size/shape to settle down to what it will be longer term? I don't want to spend lots to find out I need a different size a few months down the line.

Any recommendations on where to go to get measured and buy something? Budget is more at the M&S end rather than Rigby & Peller unfortunately, but might be able to stretch it a little if I get long lasting good quality.

If it is relevant:

I exclusively breast fed my DS for six months but have been using formula during the day since about 8 months - he is now 10 months old and breastfeeding only at night/first morning feed.

My breast size did not massively increase during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Pre-pregnancy size was 38DD (although i never got properly measured so this may have been inaccurate).

Thanks!

You might want to join the boob or bust pages online - they have very detailed instructions on how to measure, along with graphics to show which styles fit different shaped breasts, and have lists of retailers which stock them - online and in store to suit most budgets. It also has lots of info on when to measure post breastfeeding,

Don’t go to M&S. What’s your dress size? 38DD seems unusual.

I’m not sure about how size changes but am also interested for when I finish breastfeeding. Out of interest how did you get your baby to make the shift to formula? I EBF and having taken a bottle consistently my son is now refusing, just at the point I’m desperate for a break!

The John Lewis ladies served me very well when I stopped bf. And I bought two excellent, good quality bras that served me well til I got pregnant again. I'll be back next .time .

Thanks all for comments so far.

Nightmanagerfan - I am size 16/18. Not sure you'd want to use my method of introducing formula, I had a horrific tummy bug and couldn't leave the bathroom for a day so my mum came to the rescue and DS just had to have the 'emergency' premixed formula we had bought at the start in case I found breastfeeding too hard! He then started refusing the breast on his mid-morning feed and I gave in to formula as he was dropping down the percentiles on the growth chart and I wanted to get something inside him! Over the next few weeks he started refusing the breast for his afternoon and evening feeds too. Although we are lucky that he has never been too fussy about using a bottle. Good luck!

@Itsnotlikemilkingacow I stopped breastfeeding two weeks ago (went up to an F during pregnancy) and am now back in my pre-pregnancy bras E cup(only in the last couple of days).
