I need new shoes for work and quite like these. Are they too 'trying hard to be cool'? Or just plain ugly?

I think they are ok if you're young, maybe college aged but they are quite ugly. What were you going to wear with them, do you need to be smart/casual at wok.

MrsJoshNavidi · 26/11/2019 17:06

I like them. Would prefer a similar shoe with no heel, but I'd wear them.

Bluntness100 · 26/11/2019 17:09

They are ok, they are definetly not trying to be cool though. They are just, well, ok

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 26/11/2019 17:38

I'm definitely not college aged. Try mid 40s. Where I work is smart casual really, jeans are not ok. I normally wear cord pinafores.

They look very plasticky and like they would have no ‘give’

MrsMaiselsMuff · 26/11/2019 18:40

They're not leather.

They have a 'Hotter' feel about them.

Do you want a heel? There are lots of nice flat brogues about.

Moominfan · 26/11/2019 18:43

Op I was just about to say pinafores 😊

Moominfan · 26/11/2019 18:44

Maybe the dr marten Mary Jane style shoe? Leather so you know they'll last

HappyHammy · 26/11/2019 19:03

Mary janes or brogues would look nice.

Sexnotgender · 26/11/2019 19:06

Really don’t like them! SorryBlush

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 26/11/2019 19:24

I'm vegan so leather shoes are out. I do like doc marten Mary Janes but can't find any vegan ones.

I quite like the heel on these.

What about the vegan doc marten lace up shoes that come in black or oxblood? They’d go with pinafore dresses

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 27/11/2019 17:08

I love those vegetarian shoes but they're not available in my size

OP posts:
HappyHammy · 27/11/2019 18:47

What size are you, do they have to be black.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 27/11/2019 19:05

I'm a size 5 (38)

I do prefer black. Never been a fan of brown/tan/beige or navy.

What about these?

I think dr martens lave up brogues are nicer than those and more durable too

Greenglassteacup · 27/11/2019 20:16

They come in vegan leather, ie plastic Grin too

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 27/11/2019 23:23

The doc marten brogues are lovely but they're also £130 which I don't have. I need a cheap fix

HappyHammy · 27/11/2019 23:31

The vegetarian shoe site have similar suede ones called Everley in a 38. Cant link on this phone. £70.

WeeM · 28/11/2019 00:44

I live in this kind of thing for work as they go with dresses or trousers and they’re comfy if you need to be on feet/travelling somewhere. And these ones are vegan.

I like the original ones OP. With some tights and a pinafore would look great. If you like them then wear them.
