Best home hair dye

I've not dyed my hair in about 2 years so have about 3 inches of lighter hair at the end and my natural is most definitely mousey! I said to myself i wanted to grow the blonde out and not have any more dye in my hair but looking through old photos its just looks so dull and flat.
I hate going to the hairdressers (I cut it myself as well!) So was wondering if anyone could recommend a good home hair dye. I'm looking to probably go a warm brown. Just something to give it a bit of life!

Not the best photo but you can see roughly where it starts getting lighter and what my natural colour is. Would a home dye work over this?

Have a look at the Josh Wood range in Boots. You can choose a dye then a warm or cool toned colour shot to enhance either way or just get a semi permanent gloss. I've been using it for over a year now and find it really natural looking and its ammonia free.

I used John Frieda this time (been home dying for 20'years) and I love it. My hair is so shiny and it was easy to use
