How often do you get your hair coloured?

Literally that! I’m new to the professional hair colouring circuit and struggling to get myself in the right routine with it.

I get my roots done every 6 weeks.
Think it depends on what type of colour you have (highlights you could probably leave longer than a full head block colour), how fast your hair grows and how different the colour is to your natural colour

I used to get my roots done every six weeks - block colour, not highlights.
Got fed up of colouring it so left it for four months, shaved most of it off and am now embracing the grey.

Every 6 weeks. Mainly because It's copper and if I don't it fades.

I went grey in my mid twenties, I’m late 30s now I get my roots and highlights done every four - six weeks, it’s the only way to disguise the greys in my case as my hair grows crazily fast.

Exactly the same Sammi! I went grey at 29, still in my 30s now and not ready to give in yet.

I’m 40 but probably full grey now underneath all the dye! I have roots done every four weeks but have to resort to that root spray about two weeks in

Hairdressers recommend 6 weeks, but I've met many people myself included who need to go back after 4

I have my highlights done every 18 weeks but roots done every 6 and in between those 6 weekly touch ups i do the most prominent part of my parting every 10-14 days - otherwise I end up with a grey stripe down my parting.

It sounds a lot but I never dye the same bit of hair twice and I'm pretty quick at putting the root colour on. It is a commitment though! I find that if you do it little and often you never get that obvious stripe - I have two colour highlights - blonde and caramel and then light brown on the rest - by the 18 week mark it looks like my highlights have grown out a bit and need redoing but not like I am grey.

I'm 49 now though and slowly replacing with ash blonde, more and more in the hope that I will transition to my now natural white hair without having to cut the whole lot short!

... by the way - wish I had never started but I was only 15 when I started to go grey!
