How many items of clothing do you have ?

I think I am pretty minimalist with everything In general ,! I love good quality clothes and would rather have less than loads of cheaper items . My actual wardrobe space is pretty small anyway though . I’ve got about 55 items in my wardrobe and a few old joggers , jumpers and jeans in a drawer for dog walking etc not including shoes , bags or pyjamas .
Being nosey here , how much stuff do you own ?

Too many. My weaknesses are jeans and sweaters. I must have upwards of thirty pairs of jeans in various colours and cuts, and dozens of jumpers in various weights and shapes. I have a chest of drawers solely filled with black sweaters, there are casual ones, dressy ones, best cashmere ones, smart casual ones, a sequined festive one Blush But, they all fulfil a specific function, well that's my excuse anyway.

And don't get me started on shoes and boots. I have three almost identical pairs of pink heels but with varying heel heights, so one pair are sky high so are just 'taxi heels', another pair are okay for limited walking, and the third pair are block heels. There's a real science behind it Grin

Love the term "taxi heels". Yes, I have a couple of pairs of those. Sometimes they are my "bring a pair of flats in my handbag heels".

AliceLittle · 25/11/2019 12:09

Less than I used to have but still more than I need.

KatharinaRosalie · 25/11/2019 12:50

Hundreds. 80% of time, I wear 20% of them..

Think I have about 300 items (not including underwear or sportswear)
I have cleared out about 150 items from the loft this year, and hoping to clear out another 100 / 150 items next year too....so getting there! X

No idea, they fill 2 huge wardrobes and a chest of drawers Grin
I'm overdue a clear out for sure

OvalCanvas · 29/11/2019 04:17

Autumn/winter wardrobe-
4 pairs of trousers
4 t shirts
5 dresses
2 jumpers
2 cardigans
3 leggings
3 jackets (biker , rain and padded)
5 trainers
3 boots

  • Various old t shirts and leggings which I wear at home.

I just had a massive clear out and only kept the things I actually wear. I'm also making a huge effort to buy the best I can afford when I replace things. I'm aiming for a similar style wardrobe over the summer months and have 5 maxi dresses and 2 pairs of sandals to add to the things I have out for Autumn winter.

According to my Stylebook app I have 128 things! That includes all clothes (going out & loungewear) & accessories (jewellery, belts, scarves, bags), footwear & coats/jackets

Verily1 · 29/11/2019 18:15

5 x leggings
1 x jeans I don’t wear
2x jeggings I don’t wear
1 fancy dress for going out
About 10 tops
1 summer jacket
1 winter coat
3 x cardis
2 x jumpers
3 x bras
14 pants
14 socks
A funeral outfit
A wedding outfit
4 x boots
2 x fancy shoes
1 interview outfit
1 x sandals
Slippers
Pyjamas and dressing gown

Basically 1 big suitcase/ half wardrobe rail plus 2 drawers

BarkandCheese · 29/11/2019 18:21

Far too many! However around 90% of my clothes are from charity shops so I don’t have too much guilt around the cost to me or the environment.

Did I need that beautiful pale blue silk shirt I saw for £3.50 yesterday? No.
Did I buy it?
Hell yeah Grin .

viccat · 29/11/2019 18:22

Way too many to count!
I'm making an ongoing effort to sell and donate what no longer suits me or that I don't like, and when I buy, choosing items I really love, ideally organic cotton from ethical brands.

I think my biggest problem is that I often go back to loving an item of clothing after a long time not wearing it so I'm reluctant to let them go. The usual rules of "if you've not worn it for X period of time" don't work for me... I still have clothes from 10 years ago that I reach for occasionally.

ploopsie · 29/11/2019 18:26

Embarrassingly I'm probably into the high hundreds however I did work in fashion so got an awful lot free or discounted. I'm slowly selling stuff & restricting what I buy but it's hard as there may be items I don't wear much but they occasionally are the perfect thing of that makes sense.
