Late 30's skincare

Hi everyone,

Just looking for some advice re skincare. I'm 38 next month and although I cleanse and moisturise my face day and night and use an eye gel I feel like my fine lines and skin tone are worsening. I use pixie glow a couple of times a week but it doesn't really seem to do much for my skin (although I'm weary of using daily in case it's too harsh for my skin)
I want to try introducing a serum after getting a sample of la Roche posey b5 serum and quite liking it.

I have The ordinary caffeine solution for my eyes which I use sometimes and whilst it does brighten my eye area it does not seem to plum and reduce my fine lines under my eyes.

What are your recommendations? I'm on a high street brand budget not premium brand budget unfortunately. I've been looking at Inkey online and wondering whether to try this brand in particular their collagen boost and hylauranic serum. Has anyone tried this brand? It's very similar in price to the ordinary.

Also what should the routine be? Serum then moisturise? Or the other way round and can you use multiple serums at the same tome or do you use particular ones in the morning and a different.

What do you use?

As an FYI I have sensitive skin, quite prominent pores and just not a good skin tone in general (thank god for foundation)

I started using a serum under my moisturiser at your age & it really makes a difference.
I wear Clinique smart repair.

@LilyJade is that worth the money? It is probably a little out of my affordability range right now.

Hi @Nottsangel2015 - same age range as you and I’ve incorporated The Ordinary’s retinol emulsion (2% - I’m a beginner) to my evening regime, along with their Buffet serum night and morning, and their hyaluronic acid which I use in the evening after the first two, then my usual night time and day time spf moisturisers. Within 6 weeks my skin is noticeably smoother and more glowy looking.

My splurge product has been Bobbi Brown’s Extra eye repair cream, which I use morning and night. Texture takes a bit of getting used to as it’s heavy but it’s made a big difference to my under eye skin tone. You only need to use a tiny bit so it lasts ages, and as long as you give it a good ten mins to sink in before putting makeup on I’ve had no issues with it interfering with concealer longevity

Thanks @TooSweetToBeSour I shall grab those products from the ordinary as they should like they will fit in well with my routine. I'll follow the way you add them as that sounds practical. I'll also look at that Bobbi brown eye cream as this is the area I really want to fight the fine lines before they get worse! :-)

Sun cream! Never too late to start using it. It's essential.

Nottsangel2015 · 24/11/2019 22:55

@Howzaboutye I already do as unfortunately I suffer with malasma since my youngest was born and it gets very prominent if I don't wear a sun screen daily Sad But yes agree everyone should wear it daily too!
