Make up for 40s skin

Can anyone help with recommendations for make up (light covering base and concealer for dark under eye shadows) mainly.

I am 44 but have skin that looks older, in my opinion (too much sun). I currently use Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturiser & secret camouflage concealer, which I have always liked but I just don’t find they do the job anymore - I get caking in the fine lines around my eyes and I never seem to get that ‘glowy’ look. I would like something I can wear everyday (I normally wear only concealer under my eyes and cheek colour & the tinted moisturiser to go out out).

  • Should I be wearing primer underneath?
  • Is there a technique in applying it to prevent caking/settling in the lines?
  • are there products better suited to more mature skin types?

Any help would be much appreciated!

I like Estée ladders CC anti aging cream. Gives me a nice glow and no caking.
How’s tour diet ? I’ve upped my water and fruit and veg and been transformed

I'm 43.
I wear Clinique Smart Repair serum then Boots No7 Protect & Perfect spf15 day cream.
Then I apply Clinique Superprimer to my tzone which stops pores, shine & any redness showing.
I then like to use Boots No7 BB cream (for dry skin).

I don't really have any lines except when I smile round my eyes.
So under my eyes I apply Clinique concealer for under eyes & pull the skin taut when I pat it on gently.

The Body Shop Vitamin C Skin reviver/boost is pretty good.

Thank you! I hadn’t really considered BB creams, but I think I’ll give them a try.

@Inliverpool1 I eat lots of veg & fruit but am always trying to drink more water (ie. I don’t think I drink enough - maybe 1l a day on a good day - but I do probably drink a litre of herbal tea a day as well.

@Inliverpool1 is this the cream you recommend? Would you wear moisturiser underneath as well?

Have you tried Chanel Vitalumier, it’s the most glowing dewy but invisible foundation I’ve ever tried.

Thank you @Ohyesiam, I’ll have a look

@wonderwooman that’s the one. I like it, I mean it’s not going to perform miracles but it makes me feel like I’ve got something on and does feel/smell nice

I feel like one concealer isn’t enough in my 40s so am trying out the Bobbi Brown concealer base before actual concealer which seems to help.
