So annoying when you get sizing wrong but can’t return something

I bought some flannel pj bottoms from Uniqlo today. I bought a small as I have bought similar things from them before and I am always an XS or small. Put them on at home and I thought they seemed small but thought it was just my imagination and cut the tags off. One hour later and I have had to take them off as the eslastic has left a big red mark around my waist. They will have to go to the charity shop as i don’t know anyone slimmer than me!

Pleas tell me I am not the only person who has done that?

Not just you. I was complaining today that the jeans I just bought and even tried on in the shop and everything are suddenly enormous on me! I have not lost weight that I know of and even if I had it couldn't be enough to make the jeans so wrong. They are going to the charity shop too. I feel a right twat.

How annoying about the jeans. But it’s easily done, isn’t it...

I’m finding this with shoes at the moment. Normally I don’t have too much of an issue as long as I keep to certain styles but now my regular size in brands I’ve bought before seems to be randomly too big or too small.

So annoying, especially when I tried them on in the shop Halloween Confused. I remember when I was a teenager and I used to go clothes shopping as a hobby with friends and we would absolutely scrutinise every single thing we tried on. I need to do that again. At the moment, with two very little dcs around, I never get the chance to do it properly and I can't imagine arranging to go shopping with a friend at my age (36). Everyone I know seems to go on their own if they want to try on.

I've had to buy some more jeans in a style and brand I know better from eBay. Total waste of money and ironically, I was avoiding eBay as I wanted to try on 🤦‍♀️.

That's weird re shoes pumpkin. You think if you shop the same styles you would get similar quality.

Uniqlo sometimes label stuff incorrectly. I bought a fleece there, I tried on a small and it fit perfectly but had a mark on it so purchased another one from the display. When I got it home it was tiny. I did return and held up against other size smalls it was much smaller - really annoying as I’m not that close to the Uniqlo store.

Cheaper places also cut more of one size at once in the factory to save money. So the fabric pile will move a little during the cutting so those at the bottom may be a different size to the top. e.g. in Gap I always take more of one size into the changing room, no two pairs of their jeans are ever the same .

Actually it's not just the cheaper end of the high street, some designer brands churn out stuff in China and sell it at vastly inflated prices for the quality. Pays to research.

Email customer service and explain what happened. They may take it back. Worth a try at least.
