New job - new *budget* work wardrobe

I’m starting my first ever office job in a couple of weeks and need a cheap basic work wardrobe. I’m trying to scope out what I already own that would work.
I have 2 questions: how many of each item do you have for work? Tops? Skirts/trousers? Dresses?
And is the attached outfit suitable workwear?
Thanks!

I have this skirt which is super cheap. The buckles and back split make it look more formal / expensive, it’s flattering too. Would work with a range of tops.

They have a more basic one too. Would definitely recommend M&S for cheap basics.

Thanks for the options. I’ve got some more formal options which I will try out the first week or so (just plain trousers and a white and a black shirt). Just trying to see what else I can use that I own before buying loads of new stuff.

I weak jeans and various tops. My office is really casual. My boss is always suspicious if I put on anything more formal as he thinks Im having a job interview or something.

I agree try and wait to see what others wear, I work in an office based role in private healthcare (patient facing too) and wear black skinny jeans, printed blouses and leather ankle boots most days

I’m an HR Adviser and outfits 2 & 3 would be absolutely fine where I work (think civil service / public sector).

I wear this skirt a lot with v neck tops and either a relaxed blazer or cardigan

Otherwise I wear dresses, tights and boots in the winter with a coatigan, in the summer with t bar heels and nude tights

My office is fairly relaxed, no strapped tops or open toe shoes but you could wear DMs or fishnets and nobody would bat an eyelid

I wouldn't buy too much before you start - just get a couple of outfits and wash and re-wear the first week. Acceptable workwear very much depends on your actual place of work.

Any one of those outfits would fit in where I work. I also wear smart jeans to work! But realise that's not appropriate every where
