i have been wearing this a lot recently with black chelsea boots to places like nice pubs. haven't had any dressy nights out yet so will need to find something else if such occasion does arise!

Bluntness100 · 21/11/2019 19:33

I recently got this, but you can get it on zalando for 52£. I will wear it with black coated leggings, or dark indigo jeans and high ankle boots, but much depends on where you're going and your normal style.

They are both nice.

Im going out for a few drinks and a meal, I want to feel abit christmassy when I go.
Ive put on abit of weight recently, so dont feel comfy in anything 😰

Bluntness100 · 21/11/2019 19:52

So what do you like to wear? What do you feel comfy in?

Everyone has a different style. For example I'd never wear a dress. What height and size are you, hair colouring and age?

HundredMilesAnHour · 21/11/2019 20:04

When it's cold, I wear this jumpsuit:
palonesofficial.com/collections/dresses-jumpsuits/products/lisa-lux-jumpsuit-black

Or I wear this skirt with a jumper:

(Sorry, you can tell it's gone colder recently as I'm suddenly obsessed by keeping warm!)

sirmione16 · 21/11/2019 20:07

Leather jeans and nice top with boots and a long blazer coat

Othersideof40 · 21/11/2019 20:52

Bluntness100, thanks, ill wear anything!
Im 44, size 10 top, 12 bottom, blonde ish hair!

I hate being cold, so was thinking of something with long sleeves maybe.

OP posts:
Bluntness100 · 21/11/2019 21:06

Well you're not big at all. I'm a size ten and go between that and a twelve. How tall are you?

Ok, what about what about what the pp suggested? A pair of faux leather jeans, next ones in my experience are good, then find a nice top? Maybe something with chiffon or You could get something with a bit of sparkle, and wear some highish suede ankle boots? A blazer over the top?

Othersideof40 · 22/11/2019 07:44

Thanks Bluntness, im 5ft4, im just terrible with clothes! Can never make up my mind! I really need to go shopping and try a few things on.
I do like the leather skinnies, so ill go Next and have a look.
Ive took a liking to skirts/dresses at the moment though.

peaceanddove · 22/11/2019 08:34

I'm out with the girls tonight, so wearing dark navy, coated skinny jeans that have a very subtle sparkle from Next, with a loose black satin shirt with sequined cuffs from M&S. High heeled black velvet ankle boots from Mint Velvet and a rainbow sequin clutch from Oliver Bonas.

I really like the shirt because it comes to mid thigh so hides my Mum tum.

Othersideof40 · 22/11/2019 12:38

peaceanddove sounds lovely

OP posts:
Frownette · 22/11/2019 13:03

Sparkly dark blue mini dress with 3/4 length sleeves and scooped neckline, 20 denier tights and heels, very warm cream thick coat over the top.

Othersideof40 · 22/11/2019 16:06

Frownette sounds lovely, wheres your dress from?

OP posts:
hopeishere · 22/11/2019 17:47

@peaceanddove that's sounds lovely! Is the shirt current season?

I've got this and and turquoise shirt from jigsaw that I'll wear with black jeans.

peaceanddove · 22/11/2019 22:32

Thanks hopeishere. Not sure about the shirt because I got it from Counted, but the tags were still on and it feels brand new.

SymbollocksInteractionism · 22/11/2019 22:39

I wore this dress for my last night out with
Jaden Dr Martens.
To make it dressier I will wear heeled ankle boots instead.

Iamblossom · 22/11/2019 22:42

That's really nice @bluntness 100

Proseccorella · 04/12/2019 18:17

Totally relate and recommend this top from M&Co!! After fretting for ages over how crap I looked in some of my old sparkly tops due to my mum tum (ie I felt like turkey in bacofoil, or Mrs Christmas), I nearly cried with joy in the shop changing room how flattering this was - shows off your sexy curves and skims over the more mumsy ones! Am a size 12 and 5 foot 2:

Abc234 · 04/12/2019 18:20

Jumpsuit ankle boots looks good no matter what height or weight dress it up or down x

switcharoo · 04/12/2019 18:23

Velvet wrap dresses are good as they're warm Christmassy and the shape will make you feel covered up but curvy. I got a lovely midnight blue one from ASOS

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 04/12/2019 20:13

I got this dress to wear to a few parties I'm going to over the next few weeks. I'll wear it with black denier tights (hopefully ones with a control top!!) and black sparkly heels.

Cocolapew · 04/12/2019 20:16

I'm going out on Friday with work and I'm wearing a silver sequin pencil skirt, it comes below my knees with a boat neck black linen top with 3/4 sleeves, tucked in.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/12/2019 20:21

I don't really do 'dressy' although this thread is making me want a black velvet mini dress.

I've been wearing a faux leather mini a lot, with flat or heeled ankle boots and a black jumper, or with a t-shirt and slouchy long cardigan. Or a black midi dress with heeled ankle boots.

lifeisgoodagain · 04/12/2019 20:29

Don't know, just got invite to new man's Christmas party. I'm thinking sleek and sophisticated? Don't want to look cheap for sure. Have a plethora of dresses so I just need a jacket or cardigan, any suggestions under £50? Dresses are mostly plain black so something not black maybe?
