Cheaper, but still reasonable quality, alternative to DM boots?

As it says really. Has anyone found a decent alternative to DM boots? The flat, ankle, lace up variety. Preferably in leather, not plastic.

Or should I just buy DMs ?

What size shoe are you? Dms go up size 3 in kids and are half the price.

You could check the auction sites for nearly new ones. They tend not to be cheap, but are much cheaper than brand new.
Often, they are sold after only a couple of wears, because they needed breaking in.
The soft leather Delaney ones are less expensive than the Pascal ones.

If you go on an auction site, watch out for all the listings that are DM style, not DMs.

Definitely check out eBay , loads on there , nothing compared to DMs in my opinion .
I recently got a pair of DM Jara biker boots for 60£ that cost 200£ and a pair of Jagger DM for £100 which are double that new
Plus they are usually comfy as have been walked in !

Thanks all. I am an avid ebayer and have loads of shoes and boots, as well as the vast majority of my clothes and even my wedding dress coming from there. But I actually wanted to buy these new, as I'm hoping to get a lot of wear out of them.

Nearly new would do though. I think the thought of spending £50+ on ebay is a bit daunting for me though. Even my wedding dress was £50 and was lovely.

Look out for auctions that end at times when people will be busy with something else, or look for them when it isn't DM weather.
You will get a lot of wear out of them even if they are not new.

If you are prepared to go for an unusual pattern you may get a bargain. Patent ones are meant to be a pig to break in.

I would look in All Categories not just women's shoes.

Put it this way, your DMs should last a long time, much longer than a couple of pairs of £20+ imitations, and will re-sell if you decide you no longer want them.

I'm tempted by some new ones. I just think they're such an investment item and the boots I've had from ebay can be hit and miss...even the ones with good names etc.

Yes, that would be my only worry too J&J! That's not to say that yours aren't real, but just that there's no guarantee that mine would be.

It might be one of those things I have to just bite the bullet and cough up for.

You can tell they are from China from the wording , these say dr marten on the tab instead of air wear and say " beef tendon " for materials !!

Look very closely at the description. It probably says Unbranded for the Brand.

I’m on a similar quest. For me however it’s because I find real DMs too hard to break in (I’ve tried!) so want something similar but softer. I’ve found some good similar ish ones -

Depending on where you live there could be an outlet near you? I saved £50 on a new pair last year, by buying from the outlet store in York

I got these recently (if your size isn't there, they restock frequently)
Not sure the pictures show, but they have a zip. They are super comfortable. Sturdy. Won't last as long as DM's, but wearing very well so far. And a bargain for £20!

@Fairylea, I know what you mean about the Moshulu ones...I can't decide if I like them or not!

I do like the Next ones, but I have some very similar from M&S. I seriously cannot believe I just typed that sentence. But honestly, the M&S hiking boots are actually lovely!

I do like the look of the Matalan ones, but I'd honestly prefer leather... although appreciate I am being picky.

Fly London have some quite DM'ish boots at the moment.

Have a look on Depop. I got some DM church boots for £70 a few months ago. The seller was obviously having a big clearout, and the boots had been worn a few times - I expect she found them hard to break in and gave up.

I would personally be wary of sellers who have listings for loads of one thing, whether that’s DMs or another branded product, as I think they are more likely to be fakes. I always check the other things they are selling or have sold.
