Work Christmas night out - outfit

Help! I'm rubbish with clothes. Like truly awful. I've been panicking about my work Christmas night out for weeks. My team is full of glamorous, stylish people who know what to wear... I've been shopping today and tried on a few things. I had been thinking just of a sparkly top with coated black skinnies and heels. I found something along those lines which I can fall back on. But...I also tried on this glittery (midi?) skirt...and I quite like it. Can I ask for an honest opinion on this outfit? Do I look like a mad bag lady in it? I can't decide? For context I'm 40, the night out is in our nearest city in a nice but not super smart restaurant then we're possibly going on drinking after.

I really like it.
I think you are wearing it just a smidgen too high though.
Also it will pair better with a tighter, plainer top, and a statement necklace OR bangles.

Thanks! That's helpful, I think the one in the pic was a tiny bit small so it was sitting high on the narrowest party of my waist. I went with the next size up which sits lower. I've probably got a suitable top at home, and the tip about one statement piece of jewellery is great.

LOVE that skirt. Can I ask where it's from please?

CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt · 20/11/2019 13:00

Wow it's gorgeous - you look great!

OfficerPetriHawkinsByrd · 20/11/2019 13:09

Wow! Thanks ☺️. I just never feel like I know what I'm doing with clothes. @Justonedayatatime11 it's only from New Look

Love it! Was just going to ask where it’s from! May have to have little look in there myself!

SpiderCharlotte · 20/11/2019 13:21

OMG you have the tiniest waist! You look lovely, it's a gorgeous skirt and I'm massively jealous. 😊

GrannyRoberts · 20/11/2019 13:51

Thank you, you're all lovely. I shall draw on this thread when I'm having a massive crisis of confidence getting ready in a couple of weeks time 😊. The skirts come in rose gold colour too I think.

Miseryisabutterfly · 20/11/2019 17:51

You look stunning in that skirt!

Miseryisabutterfly · 20/11/2019 17:52

I don’t think the one you’re wearing looks too small at all, I like it pulled to that height

Garlicandherb · 20/11/2019 17:57

It’s lovely, very glamorous and you have a beautiful figure, wear it and feel confident!

Like the shoes too Smile

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 20/11/2019 17:59

OP you look phenomenal!!

And I don't think that skirt is too small or wrong place - looks perfect and I wouldn't wear it any lower. It should sit on your smallest part

Justonedayatatime11 · 20/11/2019 22:46

I'm confused! In your pic the skirt looks green and I can't find a green one! Do I need my eyes testing?!

Othersideof40 · 21/11/2019 07:17

Justonedayatatime11 I thought exactly the same, I think its just the lighting!

GrannyRoberts · 21/11/2019 07:25

@Justonedayatatime11 it's the black one

zurigirl · 21/11/2019 09:47

How strange! I was looking for a green one too...

Anyway, I think the skirt looks great on you! I think if it were me I would probably wear it with boots rather than heels but then I'm not personally a fan of looking too dressed up. Blush
