I am 35

I like TopShop, and also get bits from Matalan, Peacocks and New Look [sweatshop ahoy]

FrannyandZooey · 21/08/2007 09:12

Oh have seen everyone else is saying what they are wearing

skirt from Topshop
top from New Look
shoes from RocketDog

cardy · 21/08/2007 09:12

I know I can always go into Topshop and fine something I like. It's had a bit of a revival in the past few years. There is a really big one near me I can spend hours in there.

FrannyandZooey · 21/08/2007 09:12

oh and necklace made by Greeny

themoon66 · 21/08/2007 09:38

40+.... you want size 8 shoes? Look at Long Tall Sally.com ... but they have shops as well.

margoandjerry · 21/08/2007 09:45

picturing cookiesandcream wearing tupperware boxes given she shops at Lakeland...

Bink · 21/08/2007 09:48

echo lots of others on White Stuff - does a great job of being up to date, but elegantly enough to work on a Woman in her Prime.

Oska - anyone mentioned that? Found it in Liberty's but it's got various branches (inc. a sale shop deep in Cornwall which I've not managed to get to). Sort of Japanese/Scandinavian sort of influence.

(Recommendations depend on what sort of shape you are - aside the sludgy tum I'm trying to get rid of, I'm sort of gamine-shaped with broad shoulders & mini-bust - I say that only because I think Oska works v well with that kind of figure but may not with a curvy one.)

Didn't know lakeland did any clothing, not seen anything in mine, except the odd apron?, is it another part of their store?

Help the Aged.

littleboo · 21/08/2007 11:39

Pan, what do you get in "help the aged"......my picture is baggy cords or high ( simon cowell ) waisters...... maybe thats just in my area

OP posts:
Pan · 21/08/2007 16:08

Flowery kipper ties, white vests, suspenders for socks, and very rakish cable-knit cardis with wooden buttons........>

cookiesandcream · 21/08/2007 16:08

I think it's a different store no tupperwear or aprons in the one I shop in - lots of leather coats and bags with casual wear. Some of it is a bit frumpy but some is good and mixes and matches well with other stuff - if you buy it all from next then you keep seeing people dressed the same as you iykwim. So I'll mix a next skirt with a lakeland top etc however some of the stuff is frumpy so you have to shop well.

BeyondThePale · 21/08/2007 16:19

I'm 38 and buy from Betty Barclay, The White Company, Monsoon (selected pieces, some is far too frivolous, not to mention low-cut), Debenhams, Escada, Betty Jackson, Passport.

I used to buy from Boden but find it too much of a uniform these days and the quality isn't as good as it was 10 years ago.

littleboo · 21/08/2007 16:47

Pan.... are the white vests those fetching holey ones??

OP posts:
Pan · 21/08/2007 16:54

you pay top dollar for those ones..out of my league, and am just not stylish enough to carry it off.

aloha · 21/08/2007 17:00

I'm 44 and wearing great plains cropped jeans, M&S vest and Saltwater shirt. I have bare feet atm, but otherwise sparkly glittery ballet pumps.

thomcat · 21/08/2007 17:02

I'm 36, does that make me an 'older mner'? I think I'm VERY young!

anyway, I shop at :

Hennes
River Island
Mango
Zara
Top Shop
Warehouse
Primark

Places like that really.

I'm currently in maternity wear though.

littleboo · 21/08/2007 17:59

come on pan, give us the run down on your outfit today?

OP posts:
littleboo · 21/08/2007 18:02

thomcat, you are young,BUT
really didn't mean to offend anyone when I started this with the older mner thing but, at 41 , although I feel young , and think I still look youngish for my age, young mums to me .... those around 20's.
Perhaps I should have said ... for the more mature.... or those not yet at the Darby and Joan....well sorry sorry sorry.... its been a good thread though.

in court most of day..soo deep-charcoal Balmain suit with a v. faint pin-stripe, dark pink shirt with mother-of-pearl cufflinks, with v. dark grey tie, Calvins, black socks, beautiful black ITalian shoes from Milan that cost me a mountain of Smarties but I adore them. And a smile.
ALL from Help the Aged, wit hassistance from their Milan outlet.

About to go digging the garden, so into vest and HTA wellies!!

sylvev · 21/08/2007 20:07

I love Kaliko, Minuet, Wrap and Poetry (online and mail order); kew; M&S; Monsoon. Tend to buy in sales or in a fab second-hand shop in Worcester which sells excellent quality clothes.

thomcat · 21/08/2007 21:50

You SO didn't offend me btw

specialmagiclady · 21/08/2007 21:54

I do not work for Eve magazine. But I love it! It's ace for grownup fashion. A lot of the stuff I love in there comes from Wallis, which seems to be having a renaissance at the moment.

Why not check it out!

littleboo · 21/08/2007 22:37

Pan,
Milan darling, milan..............
