Blue velvet dress, how to accessorise?

Am intending to wear this dress to my work Christmas party. Was thinking of black fishnets or would coloured tights be better?

How short is it on you?

On the knee (I'm 5ft 8).

I'd try black or nude/bare legs and see which looks better. I can't imagine any outfit is improved by coloured tights.

Sorry that sounded mocking. I'm picturing bright tights and that's a nice classic dress so I can't see it IYKWIM.

I've got flesh toned fishnets as well as black so I might try those. I tend to play it safe with black opaques.

I think black would be nice witj this. What colour shoes will you wear?

I'm not really a fan of fishnets anyway but, to my mind, its to much texture against the velvet. I'd go with nude coloured regular tights. Nice dress, by the way.

Black or nude tights, gold (or bronze as @7Days says) accessories

If your're more comfortable with black opaque that could work too.

I've not decided which shoes to wear. I have a pair of gold Freed dancing shoes and also studded ankle boots like the ones Madonna wears in Desperately Seeking Susan that might work.

The dress is quite plain, so def funk it up with the boots!

Definitely not coloured. Personally I'd go for sheerish black and the Madonna boots.

I wont be going because the mofos let me go on Friday. I was coming to the end of my probation period and hadn't received any negative feedback previously. Got called into my manager's office at 16.30 and informed that I wasn't meeting the standards they expected. It was an admin role in a technical field that I had no background in and received virtually no training but I was somehow supposed to interpret said technical info that it took years of training to become qualified in.

I'm a little annoyed, sorry to derail the thread and thanks for all the advice.

Oh so sorry to hear that OP. You definitely should wear that beautiful dress on a night out for Xmas - take yourself off somewhere.
