Can you wear black to a wedding (evening reception)

I have a wedding at the weekend. Really struggling to find anything nice to wear. I have a black lace midi dress in my wardrobe but there seems to be mixed opinions as to whether this is acceptable for a wedding reception. Any thoughts wise mumsnetters?

Black is fine. No one really cares what colour you wear anymore.

Depends how traditional the families are. I know people who would definitely be offended by black at a wedding, but most people wouldn’t.

If you think they families involved will be ok with it then wear it with some bright accessories.
