Mild colleague pressure and my boss has swopped things around so I can go to the works night out. All year I have said I wouldn't go.
The big problem is I haven't got a clue what to wear!
I work with a young crowd, we are going to a cocktail bar. I am 50s,5ft 5 and now a size 14/16. My hips have gone wide!!
Any ideas on how I can look at least slightly stylish. I want to fit without looking ridiculous!

S and B posters usually come up trumps!

Love that teal top, newdeer

Not advice as such but i would say just give yourself some time to wander around the shops. If you used to love fashion you'll find it gets sparked again and you find something you love. I wouldn't even think about your age, I think you're still young enough to wear whatever you love

WhoKnewBeefStew · 19/11/2019 22:37

I've just bought a sparkly, wrap, v neck, tunic. I'm wearing it with statement accessories, black skinny trousers and silver high ankle boots. I'm with a much younger crown so have gone more classic rather than high fashion, plus something I feel comfortable in Grin

If you’re going to Daisy’s I wouldn’t go for any of sparkly top and heels suggestions that’s not a very NQ look. 70’s midi dress/western boots would be much more appropriate. Or how about this from Cos. www.cosstores.com/en_gbp/women/womenswear/jumpsuits/product.asymmetric-wrap-jumpsuit-black.0804059002.html

There's some good advice on here, thank you.
I hadn't never thought about a jumpsuit but il give it a try. I like the cos one.

I have a couple of days off mid week next week so I'll head to Manchester and also go to the Trafford Centre for a look around!
I like the teal top I might try that as well although the XL is 14 and that was the largest size.

Thank you @JMAngel1.

I love that Cos jumpsuit too. I also think sequin tops can be very ageing and not very flattering. I like the shoes that go with the Cos jumpsuit too!

This arrived this morning!
I like it very much and whether I wear it for the Christmas party or not , it's a keeper! I have a few other events in January that it's suitable for.

Hi OP, I came on here to suggest a jumpsuit - and there you go, you've bought one!!! Could you post a pic as the link did not work for me - it said no longer available

Enjoy your night - I'm sure you will look amazing.

notacooldad · 22/11/2019 13:49

Here is a picture ( hopefully)
I ordered the other day and have just gone through the actions if ordering and it seems to be still in stock.

Nice op! I really like it.

Janus · 22/11/2019 16:16

Agree, very nice.

brightbluesky · 23/11/2019 22:04

Heels, jeans or black Coated jeggings and a
Nice top. Blazer and oversized scarf or faux fur coat.

New look is your friend.

Blow dry your hair, get your nails done, or paint them either a festive red or a dark colour.

Have a great time
