So, I already have a more practical warm padded jacket with a hood, but I’ve had it a while and it’s definitely seen better days, and while it’s fine for taking the kids down to the park or nipping to Tesco in, I just don’t feel particularly smart in it.

So i’m looking for a slightly smarter coat for the days I want to look more put together. I do really like this coat, just wondering if it’s a bit, old lady’ish? (I’m 27)

Well, with the 30% off its about as cheap as you can get a coat for, but I'm afraid I think it looks cheap as well. Mainly because the check panels don't match up, but add in the faux fur and gold buttons...no.

I had a look at the other check coats on the site and they all seem to be badly mismatched too. I think at this price point you need to keep to a simple classic style in a plain colour to not draw attention to the fact it's not very well made. The synthetic fabric will also only highlight this as well.

How about these from the same site:

Personally though, if you can up your budget even to around £50 and wait for the sales, you'll get much better quality options to choose from.
