Yet another moan about M&S and Viscose

So I go into Marks - they actually have a quite nice dress and it is not viscose .Wow!! Then I saw quite a nice printed blouse that was polyester, then a tunic in the same print (presumably same material???) Nope. Viscose. Why??? The same print dress was viscose too. They had a same print skirt but by then I was viscosed out of there!!

What's the problem with viscose?

Deathraystare · 16/11/2019 13:25

I cannot wear it. It is not breathable for me. If I wear it I got damp from sweat at my lower back and the back of my neck. Same with modal and tencel. I am ok with polyester though!

Viscose is a natural fibre, made from wood pulp. Personally, I have no problem with it. I'm surprised you find it sweatier than polyester!

PerspicaciaTick · 16/11/2019 13:29

I rather like viscose.

woodhill · 16/11/2019 13:32

It's ok but prefer cotton.

Deathraystare · 16/11/2019 13:36

I just cold not understand why something in the 'same' print would be a different material! Most of their dresses are now Viscose that is why I was so pissed off.

Because there's polyester everywhere now, I'm happy if it's viscose instead!

M&S are terrible for this though. Hardly anything is just natural fibres.

thedevilinablackdress · 16/11/2019 14:42

Much prefer viscose to polyester but everyone's different. There'll be plenty of polyester options out there OP!

SwedishEdith · 16/11/2019 14:47

I hate viscose as well. It's like a natural fibre that feels and behaves like a man-made one.

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 16/11/2019 14:53

Viscose is the absolute worst for shrinking. I shouldn't think I've bought anything but tights in M&S for more than 5 years, perhaps even longer.

TableNiner · 16/11/2019 15:11

I’m also always pleased to discover viscose if it’s a choice between that and polyester but you do have to reshape it whilst damp

Itsashame · 16/11/2019 17:44

I love viscose and never had anything shrink. Not sweaty for me either but polyester always is

MrOnionsBumperRoller · 16/11/2019 18:34

But viscose is degradable and polyester isn't so yay to viscose.

OverByYer · 16/11/2019 18:35

I really like viscose, makes clothes hang nicely

Deathraystare · 17/11/2019 11:43

Yes but why same print different material?????? Poly blouse viscose tunic Why???

OP posts:
CatInTheDaytime · 17/11/2019 13:34

Yes same print different material is annoying - or sometimes lucky, depending! I love love love prints, so when I see a print I really like then find it's polyester, I'm so pissed off. OTOH if you look at the whole range you might find the same print in viscose or cotton or something. Hush do this, so do Ganni. Maybe it's to do with pricing?
