What shoes with this wedding dress?

Looking for some opinions on what kind of shoes would look best with this dress?

We’re planning on eloping (to New York) so I was always keen to go for a shorter dress but I hadn’t envisaged getting one with black detail on it. Does this mean I would have to go with black shoes? The dress is a little less bright white in real life, more of a very light cream.

Not sure it’s relevant but I’m 5”4, size 8-10, pale skin, dark hair and dark eyes. In terms of colours, I’d say I’m a winter. I was originally thinking cobalt blue shoes but not sure that would work with this dress?

What time of year are you going?

gwhizz75 · 16/11/2019 12:00

We haven’t actually booked yet but most likely late Spring or early Autumn.

Sorry I don't know how to do pics but try
Pink Boutique - Coco baby £29.00

Possibly try nude/stone shades. Would also depend on other accessories.

Google Kate Middleton shoes. She wears some lovely stylish ones & it may give you some ideas. Good luck, & congratulations.

Thanks for the ideas so far!

I don’t tend to wear nude/stone shades as I find they just don’t suit my colouring, same with pale pinks. I love some of the shoes Kate Middleton wears - lots of pretty courts.

Would I be best sticking with courts do you think? People always say to avoid a strap around your ankle with dresses/skirts don’t they?

I haven’t chosen any accessories yet, I guess I’ll need a bag and will probably just wear my leather jacket if it’s a bit chilly!

Hi, just quick. All the shoes I mentioned are black and white . Even the ones from pink boutique, seems an odd name but still

mistydayswampwitch · 16/11/2019 14:53

I'd wear a bright colour like fuchsia pink or a red!

mistydayswampwitch · 16/11/2019 14:53

Very beautiful dress by the way! Congrats!

I love this dress, I think it would look great with a coral shoe and matching lipstick.

I really wish I had worn a dress like thisSmile

I'd say given your height and weight you probably have nice slim legs so I think a strap across your ankle would be fine. That dress is gorgeous btw, so stylish. You might need a light jacket of some sort and could match shoes to that. But I think the way it's styled in the picture looks great.

Duckswaddle · 16/11/2019 19:47

Red ballet style heels with silky straps around your ankles - beautiful!

Happyandglorious · 16/11/2019 21:14

I would find a pale grey suede court shoe. Think it would combine the softness of the dress and the black detail.
Congratulations

Thanks for all of these ideas, and for the lovely comments about the dress too Smile We’re eloping for a few different reasons, but I do sometimes feel like I’m missing out on a ‘proper’ wedding dress so it’s really nice to hear such positive things about the dress I’ve chosen.

The idea of coral shoes or a bright, fuchsia type colour has really got me thinking... I think I’ll order a few pairs in different colours and go from there. I’ve tried it with some black sandals and some Mary Jane type shoes and it did look nice, but I’m just not sure I want to go with black. A pop of colour feels a bit more me!

Can you tie it in with a colour from your bouquet so a coloured shoe won't look out of place with the black (or lipstick if you're wearing a colour)

switcharoo · 17/11/2019 19:13

I do love these though!

I think if you are going with a bright coral/fushia/red colour you would need that colour with a touch of black in the handbag. You wouldn't have 3 separate colours without the bag having a mix of 2 of them.

It wouldn't look right having fushia shoes and a fushia bag and ignoring the black in the dress
Or having fushia shoes and a black bag.
I don't think I have explained this very well, sorry.

The dress is lovely and the style of shoes the model has on are nice.
