I've just been offered a job as a teaching assistant in a school after many months of trying so I'm very excited. Grin I have a couple of pairs of Chelsea boots which I'd planned to use as my daily shoes with all outfits during winter however for afternoons I've been assigned as a 1:1 and it's in the nursery. This kind of changes the dress code from smart/casual to practical as I'll be likely to be be spending much more time outside. I'm looking for a boot that is warm (I have raynauds and get very very cold hands/feet) and waterproof, comfortable - not too heavy or clumpy suitable for indoor and outdoor wear but still looks good. Any ideas welcome.

There are loads of leather lace up hiking style boots around at the moment. Would they work?

OP I bought these & I love them! They are warm, extremely comfortable & they are waterproof. I've never had them off. They look smart too, and they also have the UGG signature fluffy lining. I've worn them in the recent downpours where we've had flooding & huge puddles etc so their waterproof claims have been put to the test & my feet have stayed totally dry. They are a tad on the expensive side but comfort is high on my list & these I highly recommend : ) UGGs are so durable & well made : )

Those ones are from M&M direct, have a look on UGG emporium too as they sell off all old style UGGs cheaper. The ones I posted above aren't clunky in any way, I wear them all day inside and office. You won't be disappointed!

I wore Clark’s Mariella Busby leather Chelsea boot when I was a teacher in an SEN school. Super flexible sole so you can scrabble on the floor, run after your charges to your heart’s content. Easy to wear with skinnies or any jeans.
I put sheepskin insoles as I also have Raynauds

Oh I hadn't thought of ugg Chelsea style thanks. Also didn't realise they'd be sheepskin lined. I have Ugg's in several forms but my only waterproof pair are huge and clumpy. I agree it's definitely worth paying a bit extra for good footwear. I have the trainers but they aren't lined. I had considered hiking/snow boots but thought they'd just be too big and bulky to be practical indoors. Will look on to the Clarks too. My current boots are Clark's but suede so wouldn't last long out in the rain.
