I'm moving from a very physical job to a role that's a lot more office based.
I've never really had to buy smart office wear before so I'm a bit lost would appreciate some recommendations.

I'd like to splash out a bit and treat myself.
Only idea I've got is Hobbs (because I pass one a lot and like to admire the clothes in the window Grin)

Large department stores. Monsoon. M&S.

I had a look in John Lewis when I was in town but I always get a bit overwhelmed trying to shop for clothes in big department stores

I like Banana Republic for work wear. Hobbs doesn't last very well with me -looks worn quickly!

Or Reiss - but more pricey.

Ooh that's good to know about Hobbs.

Reiss is a good shout.
I remember admiring their stuff years ago when I was looking for interview clothes but I was young and skint at the time

Hobbs is ok , I've not had problems with anything from them; sign up for their emails as they have constant 20% off offers every other week.

Also have a look at John Lewis own brand clothes, plain simple & smart for work .

John Lewis do a free personal shopping service- really good way to get advice and help

I find Hobbs good quality, have a lot of their stuff. Reiss, Banana Republic, Hobbs, Libby London, The Fold are my go tos!

ambereeree · 15/11/2019 08:38

Calvin klein do nice work wear as do mango and warehouse. How old are you OP?

CountFosco · 15/11/2019 11:45

What's your budget like and how smart is your office? COS, Arket, Finery, Me&Em, The Fold, Boden all have work appropriate clothes. Uniqlo and good old M&S are good for cheaper basics.

RuggyPeg · 15/11/2019 11:48

The Fold

I like Reiss and Oasis can occasionally have good pieces. I would recommend not going mad with the shopping until you see what other people are wearing.

My office for example I'd extremely casual so when I wear what I like (Reiss or Ted baker) I look overdressed

Massimo Dutti? They have lovely workwear but sadly I can’t afford much of it! I did buy a blue cotton striped shirt from them recently and the quality is very nice.

orangecream · 15/11/2019 16:55

Thank you for all the suggestions.

It's a very smart office. It's another role within the company I already work for so I'm fairly good idea of what to wear. Just not where to get it.

I'm 27 for the poster that asked my age.

Reiss is my go to- I tend to buy in the sales or on Ebay though
