Please help me find FLAT going out shoes!

It's really difficult! I need to find shoes that I can pair with dresses for going out (theatre, dinner with family, "date night" with DH), but for various reasons I want them to be flat. Flat shoes don't seem to "go", iyswim?!

Please help!

I need this as well! I have hyper mobile feet with nerve damage and have to wear flat round-toed shoes for the rest of my life. I love getting dressed up but my feet always look at odds with the rest of me.

Throughout autumn I’m wearing flat ankle boots - I have them in several colours and they look good with midi dresses but I am wracking my brains for what I’ll do as a Christmas party/night out/theatre trip. So no suggestions but following eagerly!

CatUnderTheStairs · 14/11/2019 07:01

Do they have to be completely flat?

I find pointed ones look more dressy on me, so pointed ballet from Boden .

M and s had some good loafers.

Boots might be easier, ankle or knee high.

OhTheRoses · 14/11/2019 07:07

For occasions I buy the satin rainbow ones from John Lewis. They can be dyed to match your dress. Quite neat. Can't do heels any more.

Northernsoullover · 14/11/2019 07:09

Following as I have the same problem.

I’ve just ordered ballerinas from Fitflop. Hoping to be able to get away with them for ‘occasions’ as well as work.

MustardScreams · 14/11/2019 07:13

Same issue here! I have Morton’s neuroma in one foot and Achilles tendinitis in the other. Heels are a no go.

For general going out I like a pair of boots with a slight heel, rubber soles if possible for cushioning. Flat lace up boots are often narrower and so go well with midis, skirts etc and look interesting with the outfit rather than clumpy.

For more fancy going out I try and find wedges with a small heel as I find I can walk reasonably comfortably in them. Especially with a dress. Or a pointed flat looks more elegant than a round toe.

Another vote for Boden. Also suprisingly, Toms. They do a line of suede pointy pumps that look dressed up or down depending on what you're wearing. Have them in a couple of colours and worn the black ones for a wedding while pregnant.

Irregular Choice?

OpheIiaBaIIs · 14/11/2019 07:43

The FitFlop Allegro range is good. I have a few pairs and they're brilliant for my arthritis-riddled feet. FF have a sale on at the moment too and if you Google there's always a code knocking about.

CatUnderTheStairs · 14/11/2019 08:00

Oh and Gabor can be very good. Clark’s used to do cushioned pointy flats in good colours.

HundredMilesAnHour · 14/11/2019 11:51

Jimmy Choo does some lovely evening flats but obviously it depends on your budget. Sometimes they pop up in sales or on sites like Brand Alley so worth keeping your eyes open.

blablablabla123 · 14/11/2019 12:04

These are Ted Baker

The site does lots of other flats, Micheal Kors mocs are fantastic for comfort, as are Nine West. If you sign up for the newsletter they give a discount on the first order, there is usually a promo code or two knocking around if you look.

I bought some stunning flat black ankle strap shoes a while ago, in new look in the sale. They’re sparkly and taper into a slight point. They look absolutely stunning with anything I wear for going out and they cost me about £12.

So I’d definitely recommend going into your local new look.

sugarbum · 14/11/2019 12:48

I quite like the look of ankle strap ballets. I have been looking at these www.clarks.co.uk/c/Grace-Anna/p/26131119 but I'm also temped by these www.amazon.co.uk/Jessica-Simpson-Womens-Mandalaye-Ballet/dp/B00EC9M32S?psc=1&th=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

StatisticallyChallenged · 14/11/2019 20:29

I have some glittery Sam Edelman loafers which are super comfy and flat

kenandbarbie · 14/11/2019 21:01

What about these?
I think dune do some the same as well.

I do think that this is an area where you need to spend some money. Also where you need to re-think the entire outfit eg a slim cocktail dress looks less good with flats than a fit and flare or 7/8th with a glam top.

TSSDNCOP · 15/11/2019 00:02

Sorry, posted before I got to brands:Boden, Dune, LK, Ted. I got lucky in M&S last year, but that’s touch and go isn’t it.

Oh I give up. Go to Office's website and search 'Flax Point T-bar Flat'
