Trouser suits with flat shoes?

I'm beginning a new job which involves a commute on public transport. Ive been spoilt in previous roles (car parks, uniforms!) and now I'm worried because I have plenty of trouser suits but they're all wide, long in the leg and require heels with them. I'm going to be walking up a hill and across a city centre. I keep trying to look out for narrow leg suits that I could put with flat shoes, but what kind of shoes? I don't want to look a complete frump in a newish stylish company but I cant wear heels for any length of time without being in pain/hobbling about all day.

Brogues maybe? Flatform brogues even if you want some extra height, (these are a bit marmite, but I happen to love them). I think heels can sometimes look a bit naff these days tbh. Especially if you aren't one of these amazing women who can walk in them with absolute ease. So, I think you'll look more stylish if anything!

Brogues, loafers or ankle boots look professional and are easy to walk in.

Thank you! I am having a google now
I'll have to buy another, narrow legged suit I think that wont look daft and trail on the floor...

If you have a straight body and slim legs then a masculine style suit (with brogues) could look great on you. If you have a more feminine or curvier figure then I would go for either orsay type pointed flat shoes or pointed shoe-boots with a wider style.

Another alternative is to wear trainers for your commute and comfortable slightly heeled ankle boots at work with your wide leg trousers.

Can you leave the heels at work and wear something comfortable for the commute?

@Hairsprayqueeen when I had a long winter commute I would wear comfortable boots or trainers for the journey and change into office shoes or boots when I arrived, everyone did the same. Obviously if you have wide leg trousers it's harder but you can probably tuck them in neatly and not get them too squished. I wouldn't go distances in smart shoes! I bought Celtic and co ugg type boots for my walk train walk commute

I tend to wear brogues (or flat boots on rainier days) - with slim fit/tapered trousers. I haven't worn heels for about 15 years. Comfort is more important
