Botox hasn't worked

Pretty much what the title says! It's day 5 today and I can't see any discernible difference. The doctor who did it says it will take 2 weeks but everything I have read says I should see something by now. Has anybody had it kick in after this? Thanks!

It’s taken a week for me before. Definitely wait two weeks. Have they booked you in for a follow up in two weeks to check it?

user1471449295 · 12/11/2019 18:28

Meant to say, it’s taken a week to start seeing a difference. Two weeks for full effect.

whywhywhy6 · 12/11/2019 18:30

It takes 2 weeks.

PollyFeather · 12/11/2019 18:35

You have to allow up to 2 weeks. You're expecting too much for just 5 days. Wasn't this explained to you when you had it done?

PollyFeather · 12/11/2019 18:36

Just seen the dr who administered it told you it would be a fortnight. Any reason why you don't believe him?

boredboredboredboredbored · 12/11/2019 18:37

I had it done (have had it before) 9 days ago and it's only just started to kick in. You're being too impatient.

iheartfriday · 12/11/2019 22:14

Ha! Ok maybe I am being too impatient! I have no reason not to trust my doctor! But it's my face (obv) and I'm keen/nervous to see what will happen. So i Googled and found so many photos and blogs were people look totally different after 3 days. It seems rare on google not to see anything yet.....

Yes mine doesn't really kick in until day 7.

Hard not to check the mirror all the time though.

Confused866 · 12/11/2019 22:22

Definitely wait longer, I noticed a difference after about a week but it was better after the full 2 weeks. I then had a top up at the follow yo appointment and again it took 1-2 weeks to improve again

Cherrypie32 · 12/11/2019 22:29

I have to wait the full two weeks to see mine.

iheartfriday · 12/11/2019 22:30

Thanks for the reassurance. It's such a big thing to do (for me at least) financially, in terms of what I'm potentially messing with and it feels like I've crossed a line somehow. So the suspense is hard!

Botox as a treatment is such a disappointment as you get yourself all worked up for it and then see absolutely no difference for days! It’s worth the wait 😂

iheartfriday · 12/11/2019 22:33

Ha! Yes! It took me ages to decide to do it. And then ages to decide who to do it.

OP posts:
TwattingDog · 12/11/2019 22:40

9-14 days here.

iheartfriday · 12/11/2019 22:49

And do you feel it happening?! Or just see it in the mirror?

OP posts:
TwattingDog · 12/11/2019 23:10

No, no sensation at all, just a weird feeling when I realise I can't scowl.

I have botox for migraine, so I don't get a say in where it gets put in my face, head and neck!

dontgobaconmyheart · 13/11/2019 00:12

To be fair, I recently had NHS administered botox for TMD in my jawline and upper jaw (by my cheekbones basically). It's a month late, I look the exact same despite being advised it might alter my appearance (they even do it both sides to even it out even though the issue is one side only) and as advised, it feels a bit like someone mildly glued my jaw so it's slower to move, chewing and opening is more laboured also. I was told this is expected as the botox paralyses the muscles somewhat to reduce overuse.

I'm not overly interested in having it again, it bloody hurt, hasn't solved the issue and I have a bizarre crackling noise in my jaw when I open it now which I didn't prior!

user1471449295 · 13/11/2019 00:13

Yeah it feels funny when you try and move a muscle but it doesn’t work. Kept frowning obsessively in the mirror everyday until I couldn’t Grin

iheartfriday · 13/11/2019 06:18

Hopefully it goes without saying that having Botox isn't the same as trying to have a baby..... but this two weeks of waking up, rushing to the bathroom, wondering if it's too early etc reminds my of it!

OP posts:
aggitatedstate · 13/11/2019 06:22

Mine doesn't kick in until 10-21 days ....

Luffs it thou

EnglishRain · 13/11/2019 06:58

I have Botox for medical reasons as I can usually feel some effect within a week but week two is when it really takes hold.

iheartfriday · 15/11/2019 07:49

Day 8 today - I've spent so much time staring at my face over the last week that I'm convinced my wrinkles have actually got worse!! Wondering if my teacher "stop that now" expression has made my face muscles invincible.....

OP posts:
PollyFeather · 15/11/2019 08:19

STOP IT WOMAN!

Two weeks! Then panic Grin

TwattingDog · 15/11/2019 08:39

Yeah I'm afraid you need to get a bit of a grip... You've paid for a product with a known time frame for it to take effect - you need to trust how it works!

Lhastingsmua · 15/11/2019 11:06

I get Botox in my masseter muscles due to teeth grinding issues. Nothing remarkable happens until around day 10 when my face shape completely changes as my masseters are no longer enlarged.

Do you understand how Botox works? Because if you do, you’ll understand why you won’t instantly see results.
