Botox hasn't worked

Pretty much what the title says! It's day 5 today and I can't see any discernible difference. The doctor who did it says it will take 2 weeks but everything I have read says I should see something by now. Has anybody had it kick in after this? Thanks!

@iheartfriday I had my first Botox session on 13 October. For a good 2 weeks nothing was different and then literally one day I woke up and it was totally different! It isn’t gradual it’s almost overnight. Such a weird sensation. But stick with it and be firm on a top up if it doesn’t look like it’s taken!

TheStuffedPenguin · 18/11/2019 23:30

It's too early to see fully but ask for a top up , a conservative doc is better than one who goes in gung ho !

billandbenflowerpotmen1 · 19/11/2019 04:41

I've had Botox for years. If it doesn't work for me in 5 days it's not going to work and I go back

iheartfriday · 19/11/2019 07:54

@NightsOfCabiria she definitely drew it up in front of me. I can't remember how many injections but it was definitely more than 4 or 6 - but I had three areas done, eyes, forehead and 11s.

@PollyFeather I have my second appointment on Thursday and I got the impression she would redo until I was happy. I definitely said I wanted light and she said at the top up she could put twice as much in again if I wanted. On her IG she shows people after one session and then after a top up. I think she said that some people have it to correct asymmetry and that's better to do when you see how people react. Obviously I want results NOW but I can see that gradually might be a better long term approach. Where I live you can get Botox done all over the place and i had a consultation at a chain which was much cheaper but I would never have used. Now I need to remind myself why I chose this doctor in the first place - which was her subtle work!

@Pinkmexicanskull that gives me hope! I have texted her and she said whilst 3-5 days was the most common it can take the full two weeks for some....

@TheStuffedPenguin Yes - despite my impatience, I can see that a doctor who is prepared to spend the time getting it right gradually is probably a good idea!

Then it sounds like she's fine in super lightly and needs to just
Chuck the rest in on Thursday 😂

iheartfriday · 21/11/2019 16:10

So I have had the same amount again put in around my eyes and 11 and double the original amount put in my forehead. It feels different already this time.... but maybe that's just the injections? I didn't get this last time though.....

If it's the first time the dr has treated you, then she will err on the side of caution and under-do at first. I'm sure she will top up at your review appointment and if you have it again after this lot has worn off, she will put more in first time.

Juanmorebeer · 21/11/2019 16:20

I have had it now 4 times, with 6 months inbetween each time and for me it does take 2 weeks for me to see the difference. It looks the best at 4-5 weeks post treatment in my opinion.

I have the same areas as you and also a light touch. I still have movement above my eyebrows, I go to an experienced dentist and I really trust her.

Super expensive though :(

TheStuffedPenguin · 21/11/2019 17:03

@iheartfriday that's good . I usually feel an immediate eye opening effect as that is my main reason for getting it - lifting eyebrows and eyelids. The rest kicks in later .

Bloomburger · 21/11/2019 17:22

A week then have a top up, this should be included in price you paid.

Bloomburger · 21/11/2019 17:25

Sorry didn't read full thread. My Lady says it's better to go in soft first time to judge how strong muscles are or you could end up droopy. I have it topped up each time. Lasts longer the more you have it too.

Oh and don't try and frown to see if it's worked or is wearing off.

iheartfriday · 21/11/2019 18:04

@Bloomburger why no frowning?!

Bloomburger · 22/11/2019 08:37

She said you're fighting against the muscles relaxing.

StaffiesAndPonies · 22/11/2019 08:47

I am completely non-responsive to Botox - I went back two weeks after my first lot for a top-up and still nothing happened, so the doctor ordered in a different brand of toxin and ... nothing. This is apparently very rare but it can happen . I’m now just resigned to looking cross for the rest of my life.
