I am not that keen on the one in the OP, but have two and love them both. I have a Whistles one from about five years ago, bought in the sale, in tan, and a chocolate brown Zara one from last year. They are very cosy, but really useless in the rain!

dreichwinter · 12/11/2019 23:35

I'm sure they are warm and comfy.
I'm also sure that @Stumpedasatree is right.
But I'm wearing fleece lined boots, sometimes comfort is more important than style.

Lozz22 · 12/11/2019 23:38

Yep I'm with @Stumpedasatree on this!! Plus I reckon it'd be a twat to dry when it got wet not very comfortable when it did either

BackforGood · 12/11/2019 23:43

Am I the only one who thinks they look like you've put your coat on inside out ?

How waterproof are they?

YoungHun · 12/11/2019 23:51

I bought an shin, length, huge pink teddy bear coat from Primark last year.

Thought I was the fucking bees knees when I got it home. Trying it on again in front of the mirror -

Teenage son "Why are you dressed like a pimp?"

Teenage daughter "Why are you wearing a dressing gown?"

It sold out almost immediately last year and I had people approaching me asking to buy it!

I'm 56 and wear it with my pink docs.

So fucking warm!!

YoungHun · 12/11/2019 23:52

a shin length

ASDA have some, one is a blue Borg coat, they also have a cream faux fur one.

I have seen the ones that look like thick fleece and they do have a dressing gown appearance but the Borg ones are more like Arctic fleece.

I have an elderly Max Mara coat that has a real teddy bear look but the ones I have seen recently while looking for a replacement were like the fleece ones.

Northernsoullover · 13/11/2019 05:51

Actually further to my earlier post denouncing them some of the styles you have all posted are very nice Blush

Squigean · 13/11/2019 06:08

Whether the look like robes or not they do look warm!!

That aside, the first one linked (by the OP) I feel like I'm going mad as I can't see the price displayed anywhere!!!!

Greenglassteacup · 13/11/2019 06:28

I think only the very very slim can pull these costs off

Greenglassteacup · 13/11/2019 06:29

@BackforGood fashion is not always about being waterproof Smile

I swear fashion is on a 20 year cycle, I had a white one when I was in 6th form and now here they are back again. They are warm, but I remember the one I had years ago, when it rained it smelled like I was wearing the pelt of an elderly Labrador. I tried washing it and ruined it, I was so sad to have to bin it as it was definitely the "in" thing to have that winter at my school and my parents wouldn't let me buy another one!!

NC4this123 · 13/11/2019 09:17

I second primark! Don’t usually shop there but I asked a lady where her beautiful teddy coat was from the other day and was shocked she said primark!

LeeMiller · 13/11/2019 10:47

Love the Uniqlo one! Zara have a nice short one in brown.

I think cream (and pink) looks like a dressing gown or a kid's jacket. But I love black and browns. They look so snuggly.

BeatriceTheBeast · 13/11/2019 11:12

Love that New Look one! It looks a lot more expensive than it is.

evilharpy · 13/11/2019 13:02

I have the Uniqlo one in brown. It's fab and a real bargain. Every time I wear it I get compliments including one lady last week who asked where I got it and then sent her son back to show me the link they'd found on the Uniqlo website to check it was the right one so she could order it for herself! I wear a 10 -12 and bought the medium, it's pretty oversized and I could have got away with a small.

I wore it to a family get together at the weekend and got my back stroked a lot as it feels so lovely and soft Grin

damnthatanxiety · 28/12/2019 09:40

almost a zombie thread Grin but I had to comment. I HATE teddy bear coats. I don't understand the appeal at all. Especially the original diarrhoea brown ones. They look like old fleece that has been washed and washed and become matted and lumpy. I do wonder if the original Max Mara ones look good IRL because they are alpaca and silk - not polyester like all the high street ones. But in pictures, even the MM ones look old and tatty to me. What is the appeal??? I am sure they feel nice, but they look shit
