New coat rustling like paper

Just that really.

I bought this coat yesterday.

It is waterproof and toasty warm and aside from the fake fur which isn't detachable, it's great.

Aside from the noise the coat makes when I'm walking around.

It honestly sounds like I'm unwrapping a small item from Amazon, which arrived in a box twenty times too large, packed with reams of brown paper packaging.

Will it wear down? Do I wash it in something? People can hear me coming!!

I wouldn't wash it and It wouldn't stay around long enough for me to find out if it will 'wear down' as I'd send it back asap.

At that price point there are numerous other similar warm and toasty coats with detachable hoods/faux fur and they don't make any noise when the wearer walks around.

I bought it half price from an clearance outlet.

Good quality Craghoppers coat, warmer and with better spec than the old Regatta jacket I already had and a better fit for purpose than the fashion coats filling the high street.

My husbands uniqlo jacket also crackles. He's just tolerating it as the very noisy price he's paying for staying warm! I wonder if it's down to the (synthetic?) padding in these jackets

I don't think so.

The filling is as soft as down.
