I have thick frizzy extremely curly hair & the only one in my family that has it. 25 years on and I still dont know how to properly deal with it and DDs hair is starting to grow in in little ringlets Biscuit.

Can anyone offer any good shampoos conditioners products to keep my curls in place? I normally let it air dry and they sit nice but by the next day the back of my head is matted and my hair is everywhere. I have for a while always straightened it but the whole drying my hair straight to straighten it takes up too much time that I would rather put to better use!

Now DDs getting curls i cant bear to let her hair end up like mines does as its painfull and really difficult to maintain, any suggestions please would change my life!!

Have you tried the curly girl method before? You should google it if not, it was an absolute game changer for me. I keep my routine very simple and just use conditioner and gel and a conditioning mask every now and then. Pinterest has many many pages, YouTube has a lot of tutorials.

Good luck!

i'll have a look at it thanks! What conditioner and gel do you find works best? Ive tried a few and find I either need to wash my hair again or it does really nothing Sad

Curly girl method (loads of FB groups which are helpful)
And a silk or satin pillowcase

It sounds like your hair is similar to mine. I swear by a tangle teaser instead of a normal brush. I also try to follow the curly girl but I found it was too much for my hair. In the end I found a routine that included part of it (no SLS) but otherwise I just wash and leave

Thank you! I have read up on curly girl and have started trying its methods. my hair is really thick and i only really wash it once a week but now dont use shampoo and it seems to be so much softer! the back underneath is so curly but the rest (mainly the front around my face) is pretty much straight and frizzy because of all the heat :( does anyone know if a cream would help bring them back?

Curly hair needs lots of moisture, more so than straight hair types. You can actually apply moisturising products on curly hair quite heavy handed, as it won’t weigh your hair down as quickly as straight hair types.

I personally love Kerastase hair masks, I use the mask for colour damaged hair and it is truly a game changer - but I appreciate that it is expensive. I use mine every wash as my hair is a bit damaged but it doesn’t weigh my hair down, just leaves it soft and shiny.

If you’re using heat, you definitely need serum (eg Moroccan oil) when blowdrying. Then apply it again along with heat protectant before straightening. Apply it again after you’ve finished straightening. It sounds like a lot but your hair should soak it in if it’s dry.

Hi.
I use Maui curly hair shampoo and conditioner. Dry my hair with microfibre towel and plop in a tee shirt! LolBlush.
I use Lush R& B. Argannoil on the ends to get the curl pattern.
I sleep on a satin pillowcase.
I never brush my curls.
I use tangleteezer in the shower with conditioner.
I use a leave in conditioner and plait my hair on in between days.
Or I use a spray bottle with water and conditioner in it to try and revitalise it in between washes , otherwise I look like a wild woman whose been dragged through a hedge backwards!Grin

Yes to R&B from Lush, its brilliant stuff.

What's really sorted my frizz out is not shampooing, just using As I Am co-wash, then a bit of R&B when my hair is dry.

Thank you all so much! I did use to ise keratese for my frizz and ends so i may try it again & i love lush so will try that out too!

I have started using a tshirt instead of a towel and it does make a difference which is amazing! I will look for some oils to spray on it aswell

xx
