Please Smile
I don't know what to go for
OH has said he'll buy me a coat for Xmas

I would like something warm but stylish
Not something that makes me look like football mum on a weekend
Also something I'll wear again
We're going to NYC for valentines so it's gonna be bloody freezing!!!

TIA

Bump ?
Any suggestions? Or what have you got for cold winters?

I went to NY early December and it was warmish and pissing with rain 😫

I’ve been a few times in February and it’s always been freezing but beautiful clear blue sky. As you are in and out of places I usually go for layers. A thin down layer like the ones Uniqlo topped with my wool coat, with gloves, hat and warm socks!

NYC winter style veers towards monochrome and "technical" fabrics. Feb can be freezing and you'll probably out a lot. I'd go for a big black, long puffer-style coat that will make anything warm and can be stuffed into a bag when you go inside somewhere and wear warm comfortable boots. (Don't know if that's too footie mum!)

I'd wait and buy a coat when you get to NYC. They have a much better selection of weather appropriate coats than here, and usually better prices (despite the terrible exchange rate).

I was in NYC over New Year a few years ago and didn't have ANY coats at all as I'd been living in Asia for the previous few years. It was cold with heavy snow that year. I just went straight to Macy's on my first morning. I ended up with an amazing down coat that kept me warm even at -20 C. Waterproot too. It would have been much more expensive in the UK. I still use it on very cold days and it always brings back fabulous memories of walking through Central Park in the snow.
