I really could do with some help! We are attending a wedding mid December and I haven't got a clue where to start. I am not a dressy person, give me jeans any day so I'm turning to you guys.
I am size 22 (yes I know I need to lose a lot but unfortunately with medication it's hard, getting my excuses in early Grin) and I am 5"5, very short unattractive legs Sad
Please someone point me in the right direction before I lose my mind

would you wear trousers like these and a (maybe sparkly) top, with heels? or would you prefer a dress? x

CheeseOnToastMmm · 06/11/2019 16:50

Unfortunately Sleep, it must be a dress, trousers are not for a wedding Confused don't ask, can't choose your family eh!

ah ok, maybe a dress like this then? or this?

wildhairdontcare · 06/11/2019 21:17

I would go for something sequin but dark. Perfect for a winter wedding with simple accessories.

Hi Cheese, I'm plus size and rather short so may have some ideas as I've attended a few weddings and events this year. Can you tell us what body shape you are and where you carry your weight? Are there any areas of your body that you'd like to accentuate or hide?

Sunshinegirl82 · 06/11/2019 21:32

Lady V or Bombshell HQ depending on budget?

CheeseOnToastMmm · 06/11/2019 21:52

Oh Thankyou so much, I knew I could count on you ladies!
I am fat all over, legs are abysmal and short, carrying a lot around my middle but massive boobs Sad
Think Eric Cartman Sad

Oh and budget, up to £100 but I'd rather not as I will be launching it into the laundry corner as soon as I can change back into my trusty jeans!

Check out John Lewis by your size. I like Studio 8 stuff - fair few bits on sale too. I like this one.

Have you looked on LindyBop? I love their 50s style dresses for detracting attention from my cake shelf (we are definitely past muffin top!) and the prices aren't bad either!

Grompf · 07/11/2019 14:12

I second Lindy Bop, their 50s style dresses are very flattering. In their sale section, they have some dress jacket combos suitable for a wedding. I love the dark red ones as it's perfect for December.

Try the Jenny Packham range at Debenhams - there's currently 20% off. She does quite a few wrap style dresses that are very flattering.

Simkin · 07/11/2019 14:55

Those Scarlett and Jo dresses are brilliant; there's something about the waistband that makes everything fall nicely.

You sound like me bodywise and I'm bloody gorgeous, stop slagging yourself off.

Simkin · 07/11/2019 14:57

Or this is nice

CheeseOnToastMmm · 07/11/2019 15:57

Thankyou so much for all the suggestions, I am off to have a look through them all. I am going to have to work on how I carry myself too as I have zero confidence in a dress so I'm destined to try and slump into the background.
One more question, has anyone got any thoughts on Snag tights? I will need skin coloured ones but I can never get tights to fit properly Hmm

OP posts:
Simkin · 07/11/2019 16:07

Comfy highish heels is the way to go in terms of carrying yourself. Not flats anyway. The M&S wide ones are good. Maybe some ankle boots with the right dress? They don't need to be strappy or too fancy anyway.

Snag tights are great ime.

RockinHippy · 07/11/2019 19:36

Your body shape would look fantastic in a full skirted 50s style dress, the wide belted slightly high waist & full skirt will give the illusion of a nipped in waist & draw attention to your assets. I bet your legs aren't anything like as bad as you say, but dark coloured opaque tights in a colour taken from the dress would make you feel more confident, & I'd recommend something like Irregular Choice shoes, which are comfy, but striking & unusual, so draw the eye to your feet rather than legs. Accessorise with a shrug, & big chunky bright beaded jewellery. You'd knock them dead in that I'm sure.

I'm trying to remember which brand does your size, I'll pop back when it comes to me

I've your not brave enough fir such a change, then maybe go for an empire line mid calf length, in a fluid draped fabric,
