OhCobblers · 05/11/2019 13:22

Well nearly new anyway?!
I have a lovely black handbag which is almost grey in areas from use but lovely soft leather and the perfect size.
Do any of you know what is the best thing to get some colour into it again looking not quite so tatty?!
Thank you!!

Shoe polish can work but not if you wear a beige coat...

Leather shoe dye might work. Somewhere like Timpson will stock it.

Get some renovating cream - most shoe menders sell it.

It's a thick cream polish in a variety of colours, obviously get a black one! You rub it on thickly, leave for a while, then polish off with a soft cloth. It isn't as stinky as regular shoe polish.

I think shoe polish is risky because even when it’s touch dry, the colour may still transfer onto your clothes. It might not transfer immediately, but after wearing your bag for a bit.

You need a leather dye not polish or cream. When dry, the colour won't transfer.

You could try saddle soap.

Amazon sell a leather dye that I've used on bags past their best. Lots of different colours

Woly renovating cream. eBay sell it for about £4 a jar and it comes in loads of colours. I use it on my Mulberry bags and they always come up like new.

Another rec for Woly black cream.
